The product, in the report: Pressure washer
while inflating the tire on my pressure washer, the rim exploded apart
Report updated 9/25/2026:
When I inflated the tire, the rim below apart quite violently and a piece narrowly missed my face. The incident reminded me of such similar incidents where truckers were killed by welded tire rims that blew apart.
the plastic rim that blew apart was original equipment

The product, in the report: Simpson Pressure washer. Picture attached
Injured while using a pressure washer. I contacted the company directly and returned the unit to Sam’s Club in Holland Michigan. The Company ghosted me after asking for me to send them my medical bills. They never responded and had their attorney contact me. I’ve attached the communication email thread in the documents section of this form. It is very concerning that a company would ignore a customer injury as severe as this. Now they have informed my attorney that they never received the machine when they had every opportunity to do so. The company had amble time to intercept this unit and if they were concerned with Consumer Safety they would have done so. It is now up to your org to hold them accountable.

The product, in the report: Simpson pressure washer
On the 4th time using my Simpson pressure washer, model MS61124 bought at Sam’s Club, I heard a loud pop sound and water was spraying out side of the high pressure hose and there was a hole in hose. If I had been near it, it could have caused serious injury. When I called Simpson, they were unconcerned.

The product, in the report: Simpson 3000 PSI Pressure washer, Model MS60805-S, P/N: 60808, Serial # 08212034210
I was using my Simpson 3000psi power washer. As I was spraying hi-pressure water, i let go of the trigger to turn off the high pressure flow, but the trigger valve stuck on and did not shut off high pressure water flow. No injuries occured, but it was really scary that the water didn’t shut off like expected. I was washing the top of my Travel Trailer and it made for a treacherous descent from the top with a full-power pressure washer wand in my hand.

No one hurt Made Oct 13, 2020, sent to the company Nov 2, 2020, published by CPSC Nov 17, 2020
The product, in the report: Simpson power washer model # 13SIE-170. Serial number J1311008958. Color red and black.
My husband purchased a Simpson power washer approximately 5 years ago. It is model #13SIE-170, serial number J1311008958, He used it to wash our cars at most 20 times and to power wash our outside fence twice. On approximately September 20, 2020 he was using it outside and began to smell smoke, see smoke. Then flames appeared from the machine. He shut it off. I contacted Simpson (now apparently Gardner, Inc) via email on 9/24 to [REDACTED] and explained the situation. She requested photographs which we provided. She replied on 9/25 to confirm receipt of the photos and to confirm my email address and telephone number. She forwarded this information to someone by the name of [REDACTED] in customer service. [REDACTED] called me on 9/28 and said she would talk to my husband in the future. We did not hear from her. I called again on 10/5 and spoke to [REDACTED], who said she would leave a voice mail for [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] did call me back on 10/5 and told me that the pictures did not show evidence of a fire, but carbon buildup. So, they are taking no responsibility for this machine catching on fire. I believe that this could have resulted in a catastrophic injury. We wanted the company to be aware of it. We also wanted to know if this had happened to other machines, but were told by [REDACTED] that she didn’t believe so. We are concerned, still, that this needs to be reported.

No one hurt Made Jun 27, 2017, sent to the company Jul 6, 2017, published by CPSC Jul 20, 2017
The product, in the report: GASOLINE POWERED PRESSURE WASHER 3100 PSI
Ratcheting gas cap on brand new unit won’t seal and leaks large amount of gasoline every time you tilt or move it. Hot engines and gas cap spewing gas all over is a life safety hazard. Impossible to transport unit in a vehicle without gas sloshing over. These are going to cause injury and damage. Ratcheting cap is worthless.
