    I was power washing my sidewalk when the cap flew off and separated from the handle hit me in the stomach and water went everywhere because it flew and broke apart. It was a swift blow to my stomach and could have hit me in the eye. The handle separated from the power washer.

    In using my 2700 PSI electric pressure washer, my son pushed the power button and it exploded. This was the first time it was being used today although it was used for approximately an hour the night before and worked fine. His hand was injured by flying pieces although the initial x-rays did not show any fractures. The top with the switch blew upwards and struck his hand.

    The machine was purchased in 24 or 25 at Home Depot in Chesapeake, VA. Please contact me to discuss. I have pictures of the machine. I am traying to find the purchase documents to see if there was an extended warranty. I am also contacting Home Depot.

    I do not want to file a lawsuit but the machine is ruined and my son has injuries. After the accident I researched this on line and discovered that this was apparently a recalled product. I was not aware of the recall. The explosion appears to be caused by the large capacitor which apparently exploded once the switch was turned on.

    My Ryobi 2700PSI Power Washer exploded in my hand when I pressed the power button to on. I had used it the day before and was starting a new day so it wasn’t overheated or warm at all.

    I spent Sunday in the ER getting my finger reset and am now being referred to a hand surgeon.

    After the fact, I learned there is an active recall tied to units overheating and exploding due to a defective internal component.

The label indicates it was manufactured in Vietnam by One World Technologies, Inc. (Anderson, SC 29622) with MFG code 095079844 and serial number LT21523N090008. It is a compact, portable pressure washer with a green and black plastic housing designed for household and light commercial cleaning applications such as decks, siding, vehicles, and driveways.

    While using my Ryobi pressure washer during normal operation, the machine exploded when I pressed the power button. It appeared that the capacitor blew up like a firework, resulting in swelling, cuts, and bruises to my hand that required icing.

    I immediately contacted Ryobi to report the incident, but was repeatedly redirected between Ryobi, Home Depot, and various repair centers. No one took the situation seriously, and after spending countless hours on the phone and driving to shops, I was left without any resolution.

    Due to the severity of the failure and the safety risk, I ultimately disposed of the destroyed pressure washer. I am now filing this as a warranty claim, as its clear that similar incidents are being recognized as legitimate product defects and safety concerns.

    I would like to inform you that this product’s capacitor blew up while my husband was using it. We immediately reported this to Ryobi and Home Depot. We spent money on an item that did not work correctly and my husband could have been seriously hurt. We were told by Home Depot that they couldn’t help us because there was no replacement for it. Since the device completely blew up and Home Depot said there was nothing they could do, we no longer have it. We feel like we deserve a refund.     The product, in the report: Ryobi 2300psi / 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer. Notable Green color plastic housing with dark color top lid. Pressure washer mechanical is mounted on a 2 wheeled tube style chassis with accommodations for the supplied sprayer gun, hose and power cord to be stored on the chassis with the machine.

    Description of Incident: While operating the pressure washer in a normal pressure-washing process with the supplied trigger wand, the unit suddenly failed in a hazardous manner. A very loud bang occurred, and multiple components of the top housing (including the on/off button assembly) were ejected as high-speed projectiles. Parts traveled more than 10 feet away from the unit. I was standing close to the machine, and while I was not struck, the risk of serious injury was significant.

    Inspection Findings: Upon removing the housing, I found one of the interior capacitors had ruptured. Its casing was melted, bubbled, and leaking hardened internal material. The adjacent capacitor displayed exterior burn marks, and the surrounding plastic was melted and discolored from apparent heat damage.

    Relevance to Recall: There is an active recall for this model of pressure washer related to capacitor failures; however, my units serial number is not currently included in the recall range. This incident demonstrates that the same hazardous failure is occurring outside the recall range, posing a risk of severe injury.

    Outcome: No injuries occurred, but the failure mode was violent and dangerous, and I am concerned about the risk to other consumers whose units may not yet be included in the recall

    While using the pressure washer, the motor began smoking and continued doing so after 2 power cycles. Ultimately, it didnt stop smoking until about an hour of non-use.

    Smoke was not water mist on warm plates. This was white, thick smoke.

    Im aware this product has a current active recall. According to the recall, my unit is unaffected and not included, but the risks described in the recall mimics the experience above, leading me to believe that more units may be impacted than are being included in the recall.

    I called the manufacturer in March and noticed them of the issue and they suggested it be sent for service, but was out of warranty, so no remedies could be made.

    RYOBI+one 4gal Backpack chemical sprayer hose sprung a leak within 90 days of purchase. Can not get ahold of any one at RYOBI customer service. We have been calling for almost two weeks. The sprayer hose started leaking right where it connects to the backpack. When I looked up the issue online it appears this has been an ongoing issue and RYOBI has not done anything to make the product safer. Depending on what you are spraying, in our case it was [REDACTED], you will have chemicals all over you.

    My Ryobi RY142711VNM (2700 PSI 1.1 GPM) Electric Pressure Washer exploded.

    As I pressed the power button to activate the machine, the top of the unit suddenly exploded with significant force. The explosion caused internal components to eject from the machine, accompanied by a loud noise and a strong burning odor. Upon inspection, I observed that a component inside the machine, possibly a capacitor, had exploded. The incident left the interior of the unit burned and coated with a black, soot-like residue. Additionally, the wiring was completely disconnected, and the force of the explosion dislodged the screwed-on cover and the power button.

    This incident occurred at the moment of startup and resulted in an injury to my right-hand index finger.

    On September 22, 2024, I was washing my truck at home with my Ryobi electric pressure washer. When I went to press the push to start button, the unit exploded and injured my hand. The lid and bolts blew off. There was a very loud exploding noise that set off car alarms. My hand immediately swelled up so I went to the emergency room. Luckily, I did not have any broken bones in my hands or fingers.

    I own a Ryobi electric pressure washer purchased from Home Depot in 2019 used to clean off patio furniture a couple of times each year 2-3 hours each time. While using the washer recently holding the gun part about waist high the plastic part of the gun broke where the brass connection is causing the hose and its connection to hit me on the thigh putting a hole in my denim shorts and causing a red welt running down the front of my leg. The red welt over the next couple of days turned into a large bruise with a golf ball size lump in the tissue of my thigh. I am very thankful that I was not using the washer to clean off the siding of my house holding the gun over my head as I could have easily lost and eye or worse if it had hit me in the head with that force.

    The product, in the report: The product is a new Ryobi Model RY142711VNM 1.1gpm 2700psi electric pressure washer. Greenish in color and black mounted on a 2 wheel L type chasis with hose and sprayer wand.

    My Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer model RY142711VNM washer exploded. I supplied water to the unit, plugged it in, released pressure from the waterline, pressed the power button, and the pressure washer exploded. Sounded like a bomb. My right hand index finger was busied and bleeding after being cut by debris. Could not hear clearly for a few minutes due to the explosion.

    My dad was using a power pressure washer cleaning gis gutters when the trigger malfunctioned and next thing i know my dad was on the ground with a big hole in his left hand. He is in emergency surgery as i write to you.

    I was using a Ryobi Power Sprayer. It is electrically driven power water washer. As I was putting up the cord my arm ran up against the holder for the sprayer gun. It is made of hard black plastic. I cut my arm severely. The hard plastic gun holder has SHARP corners not rounded. Had to seek medical treatment at home. I bled quite a bit.
