The product, in the report: Power washer
Caller stated that while using the power washer the exhaust from the unit burnt her leg, causing the skin to peel. She contacted her physician who advised dressing the wound with antibiotics and bandages. The caller then saw her physician & was treated for a second degree burn.
The power washer was in use for approximately 1hour and 30 mins when the incident occurred. Caller stated that she had purchased the unit 2 months prior and there had been no prior incidents.
(Unit was used once before for 30 minutes) (6/29/15) The manufacturer was contacted and she was advised that the warning stated that there should be 3ft of clearance to prevent burn. She stated that the warning is not clear because 1) the picture of a fire and a hand implies not to touch the muffler area and 2) you could not operate the unit if you had to be 3’ away from it
Caller feels that this power washer is unsafe and should be reported. Exhaust is too hot & too powerful
The caller followed up with Dr for 2nd degree burn approx. 5” x 3”
