The product, in the report: HD Hudson illu-Mist 40001 one-gallon & 40002 two-gallon battery-powered garden sprayers. Model illu-Mist 40001 one-gallon & 40002 two-gallon batt This recall involves illu-Mist 40001 one-gallon & 40002 two-gallon battery-powered garden sprayers. The sprayers have a plastic triangle-shaped handle in gray with teal blue trim and a white tank with “illu-Mist” printed on the front side of the tank. The sprayers measure 15.5 inches and 19.5 inches in height when assembled. Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled battery-powered sprayers, remove the battery tray, and look for a brown battery. If the battery is brown, consumers should remove the battery and tray and dispose of them in accordance with local laws for disposal of lithium-ion batteries, and contact HD Hudson for a free replacement battery and tray. Always follow proper battery use and storage procedures as listed in the instructions. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received four reports of batteries overheating, including one report of a battery melting and catching fire resulting in less than $100 in property damage.
Illu-Mist 40001 one-gallon & 40002 two-gallon battery-powered garden sprayers was stored in our bar/barn/garage storage area. It was used to spray disinfectant chemicals in and around our home, bar,garage,and BnB. July 7th 2020 a fire developed at 1:20 a.m (according to security cameras) in our storage area of the bar/barn/garage. The fire spread in a matters of minutes destroy our three story 3800 sq ft Bourbon Bar and garage/barn. It consumed over 350 bottles of vintage bourbons,500 bottles of wine and all the contents of the bar (furnishings etc). Three collector cars ( [REDACTED])and many other valuables. 23 very large trees along with several hundred feet of privacy fencing were destroyed. Many pictures can be provided of the destruction.The cause of fire was never fully discovered and was passed on as possible lightening. But, there were no storms in area for several hours prior to fire. Plus it was estimated that the fire started in storage area where the battery powered sprayer was stored.Too coincidental that the sprayer was in there and now receive a notification that the sprayer is defective and may cause fire.
