The product, in the report: Generac Power Washer model 01441-0 serial number 7319544 it is a gas powered pressure washer.

I have a Generac Power washer that has a cracked fuel tank. Gas is leaking everytwhere when the tank is full. If I don’t fill it then if it is moved around there is fuel leaking. There appears to have been a recall but when I contact Generac they tell me it is Briggs & Stratton that needs to honor the recall. Everything I see in the recall says to call Generac. I need help getting this company to stand behind their product.

The product, in the report: Generac 2800PSI gas powered power washer Model#G0069220 Serial #3000756600

I purchased the Generac 2800PSI power washer from [REDACTED] warehouse store in November, 2016.

It has been used to clean my outside deck(approx.10’X40’) twice since I purchased it. The length of time I used it is approx 8-10 hours.

I cranked it up on or about May 15, 2018 to wash my deck. After about 2 hours the spray started to weaken. I turned it off to check things out and the first thing I checked was for adequate oil in the crankcase. Upon loosening the filler plug to the crankcase, oil started to gush out so I screwed the plug down so I wouldn’t get any more oil on my deck.

I got a frying pan and put it under the unit and unplugged the oil filler plug. More than one cup of fluid gushed out and into the pan. It had a strong odor of gas and oil. To confirm there was gas in the oil I took a candle lighter and put the flame to the frying pan. The oil/gas mixture flamed confirming there was gas in the oil.

I called both the manufacturer and the warranty company to report the problem. I was told to take it to Wainwright Lawn Equipment, 10304 Cathell Road, Berlin, Md. 21811 410-641-2646.

[REDACTED] told me the problem is, “the damn gas/ethenal mixture is the problem where it deteriorates the gaskets in the fuel system allowing the gas to leak into the cylinder chamber where the gas will leak past the piston rings into the crankcase.

He in essence could not fix it because of the gas but he did “test troubleshoot, cleaned fuel system, cleaned carberator and changed oil” as written on the work order presented to me when I picked it up.

Without any definitive repair or correction I now have a gas powered piece of equipment that I will not use for fear of an explosion resulting in possible injury to myself and others or fire damage to my property.

Contacting the factory their attitude seemed to focus on, “this problem has not been reported by others”, to, “take it to an authorized dealer to have it checked out”. NOTE: I did take it to an authorized dealer.

It is my opinion that some day, someone is going to be hurt by this piece of equipment.

Final note: I have a gas powered snow blower, leaf blower, trimmer and lawn mower and this issue of the gas eating away at the gaskets is/has not been a problem with any of this other equipment, ever!!

    Regards,

    [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Generac Power Washer Model G23. Generac Quantum XLT Clean Power 60 The label on the cart describes the following: Model number 01674. Type 4600CP Serial 1007603082 Engine # 12H802-1714-D1 01092758 Briggs and Stratton Engine

I have a Generac Power Washer Model G23.

The label on the cart describes the following:

    Model number 01674. Type 4600CP Serial 1007603082 Engin # 12H802-1714-D1 01092758

It is a Generac Quantum XLT Clean Power 60

It has a leaking gas tank that has been leaking at the seam of the tank for years. I can only fill it 1/3 of the way--otherwise it leaks.

I have been dealing with it for a long time.... It otherwise works fine. Recently my son was using it without me and he filled it to the top.... It leaked gas all over the hot tank causing “steam” like vapors and a large amount of gas on the garage floor. I decided to stop using it. When I was shopping for a new one--I mentioned my problem to a sales rep at the Lowes store and he said that several Generac Power washers had a recall for this problem. I called Generac---they said it was not their product---that it was manufactured by Briggs and Stratton--under their Name. They told me to call Briggs and Stratton and gave me their number. I called Briggs and Straton and got no where. They said it was not their problem and they did not have a recall on this power washer....My leak is identical to the description of the leak on the recalled power washers.... it is at a seam on a plastic gas tank.

Do you know if this model was/is covered by the recall?

Can you help me obtain a replacement Gas Tank. I will install it myself. I would hate to send this to a land fill when the motor and pump work fine. This seems to be a known problem and health hazard.
