The product, in the report: Evike 4.2 gallon backpack sprayer
As part of Amazon Vine I received a backpack sprayer for review. The sprayer seemed good initially except for the stiff hose and I gave it a good review. Then, as I expected, the switch in the wand to activate the electric motor became inoperable so I put a remote switch on it and it was once again operable. Over time the motor stopped and I opened the unit up to investigate and found the switch was at fault. Testing the unit before reassembly I noticed sparks, more like fire, coming from the motor as the motor ran the pump. In my opinion a motor on a product like this shouldn’t even produce sparks, should be brushless, as consumers like myself use these sprayers for diesel, kerosene, and other flammable liquids as well as other liquids we usually don’t even know the flammability of. The amount of ignition with this sprayer could cause meltdown, with or without flammable liquid, should the wiring melt and become fused leaving no way to turn it off while still strapped on our backs.
This is an Evika Do Better brand according to the listing on Amazon, a company that claims to have been in business since 2001 but has no website that I can find. These Chinese companies are avoiding detection by listing the same products, often identical, with multiple brand and product names. As I received mine free I have no recourse for replacement even though I was taxed by the IRS on the market value. All the Evika products show “currently unavailable” on Amazon now but here is the website of the sprayer I received.
