The product, in the report: Craftsmen Pressure washer with Honda Model GCV200 Gas Powered Engine

I have a Honda Engine powered Pressure Washer that is a Safety Hazard. When attempting to start the engine with the pull robe, the starter robe suddenly retracts, posing an injury hazard. The Engine Model Number is GCV200, Serial Number GJAVA1327825. I am aware of a Honda recall, Number 24-220, that is for this model engine. The recall is for Pressure Washers sold between June 2022 to August 2023. My pressure washer was purchased in July of 2022. I contacted American about this Safety Issue and they said my Serial Number Engine in not included in this recall. Upon contacting a Honda Authorized Repair Shop, I was informed my machine exhibits all the same symptoms of the improperly manufactured camshafts mentioned in product recall 24-220. I believe Honda needs to expand the Recall list to include these earlier S/N Engines. The shop estimated the cost to me would be in excess of three hundred dollars for them to accomplish this recall and repair my engine without the approval of American Honda.

The product, in the report: 3000psi gas power pressure washer made by Craftsman. It has a Briggs and Stratton motor.

This unit has a design flaw that has injured me two times in the first two times I used this pressure washer. The defect is in the handle you hold. The safety switch that locks the trigger is made so that if right handed, the natural digit to push it with is the thumb. When the switch protrudes out the opposite side when engaged it is sharp and cuts the index finger. I have had blood dripping both times and finally figured out the cause described above. I have a picture.

The product, in the report: This is a gas engine power washer sold by Sears in Canada under Craftsman brand and being equipped with a Briggs and Stratton engine. The washer was manufactured in United States and it was bought brand new. The machine colour is red with a tan frame and black wheels.

This is a very serious safety issue concerning a Briggs and Stratton power washer engine. My power washer was purchased at Sears , in Canada, under the Craftsman brand equipped with a Briggs and Stratton engine . The washer was purchased on Dec 14/2014 and used so far no more than 10 times, only for domestic purposes. On Apr 9/2017 I tried to use the washer, it took a while to start, much longer than usual. After about two minutes of usage, the engine exploded with a very loud bang an a cloud of black smoke.. Fragments of very sharp metal were spread around on the deck, together with hot oil. Only the fact that my BBQ was between myself and the power washer saved me of being hit with those very sharp metal fragments. When the smoke went away, I looked closely at the machine and I noticed a big hole on the side of the engine block, about 4 inches in diameter. We are talking about a power washer working perfectly fine just one week ago. The washer was stored over the winter in our sun room, cover with a protection cover, with a temperature way above freezing level. During the storage the gas tank was emptied and anti freeze fluid was added. I definitely believe that Briggs and Stratton and Sears should issue a recall notice for all of these engines or at least a warning to the customers who bought machines equipped with this type of engine. I find it very disturbing that an appliance used only several times a year could potentially hurt people, not only the users but also the families around them, children, pets etc. Not to mention the potential of the windows broken or other damages to the property. I would like to know what is your official position regarding this and if you have prior complains about similar issues.

The product, in the report: Craftsman Electric Pressure Washer 1800 PSI

Craftsman 1800 PSI Electric Pressure Washer Model # 580.752020. On the handle that is used to rewind the pressure hose it has a knuckle so one may store it and not have it protrude out. The issue is the handle must be out to rewind and there is a major PINCH POINT. It pinches right in the web on hand between thumb and index finger. Every time I use this washer and while rewinding it I try to be aware of this pinch point then the washer moves and bang it tears the skin up causing bleeding. This happens all the time not just a one time deal as reflected in incident date.

The product, in the report: electric pressure washer

Sears Craftsman Pressure Washer model 580.760002 serial 5832954 - was in use pressure washing exterior wood deck. About 1/2 hour into continuous use and the pump housing began to smoke. Unplugged device and smoke increased. Housing and handle were extremely hot to the touch. Did best I could to spray water inside housing through vent openings. When smoke stopped I removed housing to examine pump. Once housing opened a disk shaped fan blade fell out. It appears this fan blade was supposed to be fitted in rear cowling of electric motor and it came loose causing the overheat. Several components of electric motor are scored and blackened. Portions of motor housing are melted as well.
