  1. No one hurt

Made Jan 22, 2026, sent to the company Jan 28, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 13, 2026

The product, in the report: It’s the 1.3 Gallon BioAdvanced Weed & Grass Killer with automatic sprayer, UPC 840216201002, and described on this web page: https://bioadvanced.com/weed-and-grass-killer-ready-to-use.html

I was using BioAdvanced Weed & Product Killer (UPC 840216201002), which comes in a 1.3 gallon just with an automatic sprayer w/ a flexible nozzle that is powered by an internal battery that comes pre-installed when you buy it. The jug has a plastic holder on the side intended to hold the sprayer/nozzle when not in use. It is awkward to store the sprayer - if you put the sprayer in butt-end first then you would be compressing the feed line, and if you try to put the sprayer in first then there is a hole at the bottom that looks like it might be intended for the sprayer to go thru, but the hole is too small. So instead, because the sprayer has a flexible neck, I turned the nozzle back toward the butt-end of the sprayer hand-held unit and put the whole thing in, with the sharp curve of the neck going in first. This happens to be exactly how the product is shown on the BioAdvanced website @ https://bioadvanced.com/weed-and-grass-killer-ready-to-use.html. This orientation produces two very bad conditions. First, the sprayer is aimed upward. Second, there is an on/off switch on the hand unit, which when you go to pull it out of the holder can accidentally switch on. When I started to pull the sprayer out that’s exactly what happened, and because the unit is battery powered, it turned on and started spraying up into my face (mouth, nose, and eyes). The design of the holder is very poor and almost drives the user to store it in this way (as evidenced by the website image).

After the first startling second or two I was able to redirect the spray away from my face, put the jug down and turn it off, but that whole process took another 6-8 seconds. I immediately went and washed my face and flushed my eyes for about 5 minutes in a slop sink in my garage (where I was when the incident happened) then went and took a shower and changed all my clothes. I then called poison control center who advised me that eye flushing and shower was the main treatment. I then contacted BioAdvanced product support who directed me to BioAdvanced Medical support and I filed a report with them as well. To my knowledge I have no lasting effects from the incident, which happened approximately 1 hour ago at this point. My main interest at this point is getting the product design fixed so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
