No one hurt Made May 25, 2026, sent to the company Jun 1, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 23, 2026
The product, in the report: Galvanized Swingset Chain from home depot. 2/0 thickness, 255 lb working load limit, 100 ft reel, “534 843”, “0000-539-359”, green plastic cladding
Heres what happened: I bought some Galvanized Swingset Chain from Home Depot last fall. It has a listed strength of 255 pounds. I used it on a swing for my daughter. She only weighs 160 so the strength is well within the specified limit. Earlier this month, the chain broke while she was using it, and she fell on the ground. She was not hurt but she was scared. I thought it must be a fluke and used a connector to fix it. Two weeks later it failed again with the same result. I can provide pictures of the failure point. I am concerned that other parents will use this and a child could be hurt.
