First aid Made Jun 7, 2025, sent to the company Jun 11, 2025, published by CPSC Jun 26, 2025
The product, in the report: The product involved was a portable [REDACTED] -compatible battery pack manufactured and sold by Velvet Caviar. The specific design was marketed as the Nude Leopard [REDACTED] Battery Power Pack, which attaches magnetically to the back of [REDACTED] for on-the-go charging. It is a slim, rectangular external battery with a soft-touch decorative casing and wireless charging functionality. It was being used as intended, attached to the back of a compatible [REDACTED], when it overheated and exploded during regular nighttime use. The device had no visible damage or warning signs prior to the incident.
On the night of June 4, 2025, a Velvet Caviar [REDACTED] battery pack suddenly exploded while in use. I was lying in bed nursing my 6-month-old daughter when the device caught fire without warning. The explosion ignited the pillow under my head, singed my partners arm, and caused a fire on our mattress. My infant was mere inches from the battery when it exploded.
The resulting fire caused visible burns to both myself and my partner, singed one of our dogs, and filled our bedroom with smoke and toxic fumes. We lost our only bed, our infants crib (now smoke-contaminated), and multiple baby items, electronics, and clothing. The smoke and chemical exposure affected all five of our children, requiring medical evaluations and exposing our household to serious health risks.
This was a catastrophic failure of a consumer electronic product that could have resulted in fatalities. Immediate and thorough investigation is necessary to prevent this from happening to other families.

Emergency room Made Aug 27, 2024, sent to the company Aug 30, 2024, published by CPSC Sep 16, 2024
The product, in the report: Velvet Caviar sanctuary zodiac MagSafe battery power pack
This was an accident due to defective product that I purchased in April of 2024. It was a battery pack that can be ordered with a case and magnetically attached to the back of the case. I emailed them letting them know the battery pack had started to come apart and they sent me a new one. I received the new battery the day this accident occurred. I also was never told to discontinue using the old one. On August 1, 2024 I was driving down the road and had stopped at a light when a huge gulf of flame came out of the front storage space catching my shirt, pants, left side eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair on fire. I was trying to escape the car to keep from getting more burnt and jumped out of the car which was still rolling. I went to stop it and the car door flew back and hit me in the face leaving a big laceration that needed stitches. My daughters boyfriends hand was burnt when he grabbed the battery pack to throw it out the window to keep me from further getting burnt. I went to the hospital and got stitches, etc. I contacted the company in which they agreed to pay my hospital bills and for my phone. They asked me to sign an nda. I received the money for the replacement of my phone but when I sent them the bill for my daughters bf hospital bill they started trying to say it wasnt enough and I mentioned him getting an injury lawyer and next I know I have a lawyer emailing me wanting medical records etc. I have replied to them with no response. I believe I was willing to accept the bare minimum of what they should pay but now I dont think they are going to be willing to pay for anything.
