- This lithium-ion [REDACTED] battery over and under charging my [REDACTED] electrical system cause the [REDACTED] to smoke and stall, and then the battery overheated, and the battery case begin to bulge, and started melting, which the battery compartment on my [REDACTED] almost caught on fire...
It is a; Lithium [REDACTED] Battery 12 Volt Lithium [REDACTED] Battery Powersport Battery LiFePO4 Engine Start Battery 7AH 700CCA with BMS 4000+Life Cycles YTX20L-BS, sold by The TPE Store upon Amazon.com - I was the product purchaser and user, which I put this battery in my 2017 [REDACTED] In January 2023 about 3 weeks before I road to “[REDACTED] Week” in Daytona Florida in February. [REDACTED] - text, call, or leave message.
- The product was being used exactly as it was; intended, advertised, and recommended by the manufacturer. I installed it properly in my [REDACTED] and used it to ride to the annual “[REDACTED] Week” Daytona [REDACTED] Rally.
- I was almost hit in traffic while on my [REDACTED] trip when the battery started to over and then under charge my [REDACTED] electrical system causing it to try to stall-out, and the engine began to misfire\backfire at a highway road intersection in Florida...
- I still made it to the “[REDACTED] Rally” in one piece and after my [REDACTED] new battery had set an cooled-off overnight the lithium battery appeared to work just fine again without trouble.
Until, late that afternoon after riding around Daytona all day the battery began to malfunction, and my electrical system kept shutting off-an-on and when it came back on for less than about a minute the battery was showing that it had less than a 12-volt charge, although it had been recharging by my [REDACTED] alternator while I was riding it all day around Daytona?
I tried to use an emergency battery jump-box to crank my bike back up, but the [REDACTED] would only start-up and run for about thirty seconds and then immediately cut right back off. So, I took the [REDACTED] seat off to double check that the new batterie’s terminal connections were still tight and not loose in which there were no loose terminal connections found. However, that’s when I found out that the battery boxes plastic top and sides of its casing were extremely; swollen, bulging, beginning to melt and was hot enough to burn my hands even with mechanics gloves on...
So, I had to wait for over an hour before the battery casing had cooled off enough that I could finally pry-out (with considerable effort) the swollen battery case in my [REDACTED] battery compartment and put another brand-new (non-lithium) [REDACTED] battery into its place, while I was stranded waiting at the “[REDACTED] Rally” without any other way home...
- Why did I even attempt to use a Lithium Battery in my [REDACTED] in the first place? Because, of all the high rated reviews and Amazon’s editors’ personal choice recommendations on the Amazon website at the time of my battery purchase from TPE via Amazon.com.
The battery manufacturers-sellers both endorsed and claimed that this battery was totally compatible with most [REDACTED] brands and stated that it was an exact replacement for my [REDACTED] based upon the particular lead [REDACTED] battery model that was used in my [REDACTED] before and recommended by the [REDACTED] Company.
- This was obviously false advertising and totally misleading. Therefore, because of these intentionally erroneous and misleading advertising statements my [REDACTED] electrical system was almost burned up, not to mention that I was almost getting “T-boned” by a rather impatient semi-truck driver, while I was down in Daytona when my [REDACTED] was trying to stall-out on a highway off ramp intersection turn!
- I’m darned serious someone is going to install this faulty and unstable battery in their [REDACTED] and then die on the road, because of its dangerous electrical malfunctions, and ultimately because of the; Sellers\Vendors\Marketer’s greed... - [REDACTED] - 03/28/2024.
