The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: myPower ALL Plus External Laptop Battery, model number, MP3750 We still have the receipt of purchase

My husband was driving and charging the Tekkeon MyPower external battery in the back seat of the car, it was plugged into the AC outlet in our 2010 VW Jettawagon TDI. He heard a pop and then there was a fire that burned the backseat, the back of both front seats (drivers side worse than the passengers side), the inside roof of the car and floormats. Since he and our nephew were going camping, they had firewood, camping gear (backpacks, sleeping bags, kerosene lamp, etc.), so he pulled over and began pulling things out of the car that were on fire in order to avoid the entire car catching on fire. In the process his hands were burned and required transport to the ER via ambulance. Someone stopped with a fire extinguisher and put out the fire prior to the fire dept. arriving. When they did arrive, they cut out the back seat and doused the car to make certain all of the fire was out since there was still smoke and smoldering items in the car. My husband required continued treatment at a burn center and is healing at this time, not requiring skins grafts or surgeries. We have since found that the product was on a voluntary recall list but we did not receive any information about the recall.
