The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jan 9, 2024, sent to the company Jan 12, 2024, published by CPSC Jan 30, 2024

    The product, in the report: Powerextra 4.0Ah V7 Replacement Battery Compatible with V7 Battery V7 Motorhead V7 Trigger V7 HEPA V7 Car+Boat V7 Absolute V7 Fluffy SV11 Battery 21.6....

On Nov 6, 2022, our home caught fire as a result of an exploding lithium ion battery in our Dyson stick vacuum. The lithium battery overheated via thermal runaway (we always kept our Dyson plugged in) catching fire to our laundry room. The smoke, heat and water did the rest of the damage to the entire house. The fire was violent and got to over 500 degrees (enough to melt the blades of a ceiling fan). The lithium battery was not a Dyson original, but a third party replacement battery, made by a company called PowerExtra for a Dyson V7, that we bought on Amazon (it was an “Amazon Choice”). We lost much of our personal belongings in the fire. The house had to be stripped entirely to its’ studs and the roof had to come off and be rebuilt. We are rebuilding but won’t be back in the house until Summer 2024. BTW, our insurance company, Dyson and the fire inspectors have all confirmed that the replacement battery caused the fire. PowerExtra was very unethical in their outward communications with me (post dating letters, etc). You can view a story that [REDACTED] did on our situation here:[REDACTED]

While using a grass trimmer in my yard, I heard a loud pop, almost like a gun shot and felt something hit my leg. When I looked around to see what happened or what it was - I saw the bottom of the trimmer battery exploded. The battery was purchased just last year by my wife off Amazon.
