The product, in the report: Parrot ar.drone battery and wall charger Parrot ar.drone product... serial number PS720000AH0K166430 Model # of suspect supply/charger: CHA012008 with a date stamp of 1247D
I have a recently purchased (date uncertain, seeking records) Parrot ar.drone battery/charger set that experienced a significant failure of the battery cells and housing during charge. 3 LiPo cell packs are severely swollen, splitting open the battery case.
I removed the battery from the charger, photographed the item, contacted Parrot support who advised to contain it in a saline solution to render it inert.
At this point, regardless of warranty, etc. Parrot seems unconcerned about safety or root cause (which I would believe to be a failure of the charger to stop charging.)
Had I not noticed this sudden condition I fear that explosion, fire, property or personal damage may have occurred.
Significant concern that Parrot may have many of this product in the hands of consumers unaware of the potential danger/life-safety issue.
I have pictures and the defective item intact for inspection/analysis.
