  1. Hurt, care not known

Made Dec 29, 2015, sent to the company Jan 7, 2016, published by CPSC Jan 22, 2016

The product, in the report: Lepow® POKI Series 10000mah External Battery Pack (Power Bank, Portable Charger, Charging Station) with 2.1a Output, Safe Lithium-polymer Battery

Lepow® POKI Series 10000mah External Battery Pack a) I was working in my home office (my partner was not home) which is in the basement area/lower level of my house. I suddenly heard the smoke alarm in the upstairs part of my house going off. b) When I ran upstairs every room in my house was filled with smoke. And at that point 2 smoke alarms were going off. c) The phone charger was sitting on my coffee table plugged into a laptop to recharge that battery for mobile use (we’ve had NO problems with this laptop, [REDACTED] model). The coffee table had a nice Christmas design table cloth on it. The photos show this with red/green colors as well - that now needs to be thrown away because it is also burned and ruined. d) Apparently the phone charger burst into flames and was on fire! The flames were approx. 9” to 1-FT high e) I ran into my kitchen and grabbed a bowl filled with water and put the fire out. f) I had to open every window and door in my house to air it out. San Francisco is cold this time of year, it was pouring rain outside, so I was very cold for the rest of the day. I had an asthma attack from mild smoke inhalation and could not breathe very well but eventually I was okay and proceeded to clean up the mess. g) Small black soot caked my window blinds as well as settled onto my bathroom sink and bathtub. h) The coffee table was badly burned but I cleaned/wiped it down as best as I could and then I realized I should take photos of the table as well. The photos provided are the scar remaining that will not come any cleaner as it’s burned. I need a new coffee table. i) The left side of the laptop is burned/melted, unusable. I bought my partner a new laptop b/c this one is completely ruined. NOTES: I contacted Lepow immediately to report the incident. They were very cooperative. I requested reimbursement for new laptop, coffee table, battery pack, and my time (was working at home). I reported the incident on Amazon.com via complaint as customer review. Lepow requested that I delete that review before they would reimburse me. I deleted the review and they transferred $1,123 via [REDACTED}. I then transferred that $ out and deposited it to my bank.
