The product, in the report: HP laptop battery (HT03XL)
I have HP 15t-dw100 laptop purchased in November 2019. The buttons on the touchpad quit working. My son, who is an avionics engineer, took the laptop apart and found where the lithium battery is bulging. He said it could explode and start a fire at any time. He said it was not safe to have that battery anywhere in my house. My laptop was registered with HP and they never indicated the potential for this problem. My son ordered a replacement battery from [REDACTED], installed it, and the computer now works OK. HP should notify all users with a laptop containing this battery (HT03XL) and HP should replace the battery.

The product, in the report: HP Spectrum 360 laptop battery
My HP spectrum 360 laptop battery was swollen to the point my TouchPad would not operate. After removing the battery from my laptop, it looked like it was ready to explode. The Spectrum model laptop was not included in the HP laptop recall, but the symptoms seem extremely similiar.

The product, in the report: Laptop, HP, Sprectre 360, System Model HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-bl0XX, System SKU Z4Z35UA#ABA, Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = “10.0.18362.387”
HP Sprectre 360 laptop battery became very hot and blew up (expanded to a great degree) and pushed out the mousepad and distorted the shape of the laptop. I removed it immediately. HP has battery recalls in place but not for this model. I think other people should be warned. I have very little doubt that a fire would have resulted if the very hot battery had not been removed.

The product, in the report: HP Pavillion g6 battery pack exploded while being charged with the HP battery charger.
HP Pavillion g6 laptop batteries exploded when under charge. Burned the wall, desk and floor with flaming black plastic and hot batteries. The hot plastic and fires destroyed the labels showing the model number, serial number, etc., for both the computer and the battery pack. There was nothing identifiable left of the battery pack.

The product, in the report: Laptop Battery
For approximately the past six months, the consumer states that his battery overheats to the point that his laptop shuts down; when it is restarted, it indicates that it shut down because of a “thermal overload.” He is unable to place his laptop on his lap because of how hot it gets.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation. The Manufacturer informed the consumer that his laptop is out of warranty and his battery is not included in a recall so he they cannot assist him; he was advised to purchase a new battery.
The consumer indicates that he uses his laptop on a daily basis however he has to shut it down every thirty minutes. The consumer indicates that the battery was replaced once during its first year of warranty because of the same reasons.
The consumer plans on keeping the battery for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

No one hurt Made Feb 17, 2014, sent to the company Feb 25, 2014, published by CPSC Mar 12, 2014
The product, in the report: Product with the problem i experienced is a factory supplied battery included with a HP Mini 1035nr netbook computer. Computer serial # CNU850526S part # FT313UA#ABA. The battery appears to be series # HSTN-DB80. There is a label with barcode and letters/numbers displaying CT 6AJHB03BBWUKUM. Date code 9508C4. I remember hearing in the past tha similar hp netbook computers were subject to a recall for baterries that had same similar symptoms. This computer/battery was not subject to that recall but perhaps that recall should be expanded to include this model... I have pictures to include with this report but the website will not work with my [REDACTED] to upload them. Please provide me an email address and i will attach them to email.
I was using my HP mini 1035nr netbook computer to play music files while i was doing things around the house. The battery was discharged so i plugged the computer in to the factory supplied charger. About 2 hours later i went to pick up the computer and bring it upstairs so i could continue listening to music. When i unplugged it from the charger, it shutdown immediately. When i picked it up the bottom of the computer was too hot to hold and i noticed that the battery had bulged out. I took the computer outside incase it caught fire or leaked battery acid and got a pair of gloves and immediately removed the battery from the computer and noticed that the burst battery had also broken the computer case/latch where the battery attaches to it. I contacted hp customer care and after almost an hour on the phone and several transferred calls, i was finally told that the computer is obsolete and should be replaced anyways, and that hp would not support the product in any way even considering that it was a product safety issue. I asked to speak with a manager and the person on the phone began arguing with me and then hung up on me.

The product, in the report: HP Mini Laptop battery CT:6AJHB03BBWYHD6
I see that there are two other incidents reported. My battery actually exploded! Thankfully nobody was around/near it when it did. However, it did burn a hole in my couch. I too contacted HP both online and via phone with no resolve. Basically stated that since it was no longer under warranty that my only option was to buy another battery! I had only had the [REDACTED] computer for a little over 3 years!

Hurt, no treatment Made Jul 6, 2012, sent to the company Jul 27, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 10, 2012
The product, in the report: Battery for HP Pavilion dv6000
I own an HP Pavilion dv6000 purchased during the summer of 2007. This is around the time HP laptops were sold with batteries that were later recalled for issues with over-heating and fire hazards. The CT number for the battery in mine does not match those included in the expanded recall despite being purchased during the same time period as the defective ones. Mine begins with 62941 instead of 62940. I called HP in regards to this recall when it first came out. I was reassured that despite the battery in my device having the same over-heating issue that it was unaffected by the recall. The recall was later expanded to include more batteries but mine still did not fall under it.
My concern is that despite the battery for my device not being included in the recall of HP batteries to date, something may still be seriously wrong with it. The entire unit including the laptop itself, the removable battery, and adapter all over-heat from time to time. More often than not, I’m forced to use a laptop cooling fan or place it on top of a cool surface to avoid over-heating. Sometimes, it gets so hot that my laptop will shut down completely.
I am worried about being injured or having my computer damaged if something were to explode or otherwise seriously malfunction because of this issue. In the meantime, I also have an HP Pavilion dv2000 which uses the same type of battery. I use the battery from that device or take out the battery and run my computer off the adapter to minimize the risk. However, that battery is getting old and dies quickly and the adapter over-heats as well.
I’m putting the incident date was May 2010 because that is when I called HP about the problem. It has been an intermittent issue for a few years now. The injury I am reporting is minor at most. If it starts to over-heat and is placed on my lap, it does begin to burn them. This “burn” is similar to the feeling a person gets when touching something very hot and pulling their hand away quickly. It is uncomfortable for a short time but leaves no lasting injury.

The product, in the report: DV2700 laptop extended life battery
I have an HP D2700 laptop computer that has an extended life battery that heats up to an unacceptable level. It also only has about 5 minutes of saved energy even after being plugged in for several hours. I have complained to HP and suggested that this battery fits the description that HP has had on many recalled batteries, but they insist that since my battery number is not on the list of recalls, they can do nothing to help me. I have rendered my laptop unuseable because of this dangerous hazard that HP refuses to acknowledge.

The product, in the report: HP laptop battery G60 series
I have an HP laptop and it has always gotten much hotter on the bottom than any other laptop I have had. I was told by our IT guy at work that HP has recalled laptop batteries and to check mine out as it is much hotter than it should be even with the riser underneath. I was told by HP that mine is not a recalled battery, but I can see they have had numerous recalls added to the original one. I wonder, does someone have to be injured before they add batteries like mine to the recall? Please let me know what I can do to get them to replace my battery before someone gets injured. Thanks, [REDACTED]
