The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Recall Number: 17-071 HP Expands Recall of Batteries for HP and Compaq Notebook Computers Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
re: Recall Number: 17-071
Hi - I registered my CQ62 laptop when I purchased it.
About 2 years ago the battery kept getting so hot I tossed it because I was concerned it would start a fire.
I have a copy of my original registration and I still have the CQ62 laptop, but I don’t have the battery.
Now, there’s a recall and the Recall Form will not go through without the battery serial number.
Can you tell me how I can submit my information when the company will not let me even contact them without the battery serial number?
Thank you

Hurt, no treatment Made Oct 12, 2011, sent to the company Oct 19, 2011, published by CPSC Nov 2, 2011
The product, in the report: HP Battery labeled 6A99902BBUJ0XE. Was in a Compaq laptop. Color is black.
HP Battery labeled 6A99902BBUJ0XE, was feeling warm for a few months prior to incident, which caused me to purchase a cooling fan for the laptop it was being used in. Not too long after that the battery started to get irrationally hot. I could not remove the battery because of the heat. I turned off the laptop, but by the time it had cooled off, the cooling pad had melted and no longer functioned, the hinges for the laptop screen melted, the wires going to the screen may have caught fire (they looked slightly burnt), the fan on the laptop was melted, the couch and pants the laptop had been sitting on were slightly burnt, and the laptop was then rendered useless.

The product, in the report: battery for a hewlett packard laptop
I have a Hewlett Packard Computer DV5. The Battery in it gets so hot that I cannot set it on my lap. The battery bar code is CT:6ACGA02BCWB3WK, hp sPARE 484170-D01 7F0884. I cannot find out if it is a recall after several phone calls. It will not keep a charge and if I unplug the battery, it dies.
