First aid Made May 13, 2015, sent to the company May 21, 2015, published by CPSC Jun 12, 2015
The product, in the report: A battery for a MicroG vaporizer pen for person’s suffering from medical conditions (Epilepsy, MS, Cancer, AIDS, etc.) that are best alleviated by vaporized medicine.
I have a traumatic brain injury wth epilepsy from my service in Iraq. Now, I use vaporized medicine to control my seizures. I purchased a MicroG vaporizer battery from Grenco Science for a MicroG vape pen system. After using it for a couple months, an incident occurred. I pushed the button to use it, and then I released the button. But when I released the button, the light stayed on and the battery kept heating the tank. It got so hot the tank turned orange. I thought it must’ve been a fluke. I told Grenco Science and they sent me another one. After using the new battery for a couple months, the same thing happened except this time it burned my leg and my pants. I reported it to Grenco Science again. They offered to send me another one. I am very concerned about the danger of this product and Grenco’s lack of concern for public safety. I have nothing to gain from this report (I’m already getting my money back) other than to prevent serious injury to another consumer. A more frail or less reactive person could seriously hurt themselves or start a fire with this defective product.
