The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

Made Dec 14, 2024, sent to the company Jan 10, 2025, published by CPSC Jan 27, 2025

The product, in the report: Greenworks Pro 80V rechargeable lithium ion battery (model BAB726, serial# GWA 1692706 YW 06/18/21 VN) that was left on the charger. The charger was a Greenworks Pro 80V Lithium-Ion Battery Charger (model 2901402, serial# 1082304122100371)

While investigating a carbon monoxide alarm incident in a residence, I confirmed the presence of high levels of carbon monoxide in the home (garage) using a [REDACTED] gas monitor. When searching for a source for carbon monoxide in the garage, the only possible source appeared to be an 80V Greenworks Pro lithium ion battery that had been left on its charger for several months. There was no notable damage to the battery or charger and there did not appear to be any other problems other than the presence of carbon monoxide in the area. After unplugging the battery charger from AC power and ventilating the garage and rest of the home, there was no return of carbon monoxide to the home. I returned several hours later and found no measurable CO in the home or garage, which points to the battery on the charger being the source of the carbon monoxide.
