The product, in the report: A 25mm A23G 12V battery.

I was changing an unresponsive battery in a remote control for a ceiling fan in my home. I removed the existing battery and placed it on my kitchen counter. As I was opening the package which held a replacement battery, I heard a very loud pop, similar to a low powered gunshot, and saw in my peripheral vision an object shoot across my kitchen and repel off of my cabinets (approx 20’ away) before I heard it land on the floor. To my shock, the sound was the battery that I had rested just a moment before on the countertop and the object was the negative end of the battery flying across the room.
