The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D7PWMNQH Fhybat BA2800T I don’t have many other details as it’s melted to the charger and my homeowner’s insurance has not allowed me to “mess with anything”.

I ordered a third-party battery for my [REDACTED] Power tools. I used the battery maybe 5-8 times over 3 months. I used it with an authentic [REDACTED] charger that has shown no signs of issues. The battery I’m reporting was used to mow my small lawn (30-45min of use, hot summer day, 90-95F), then was put back on the charger. About 1hr40min later, the battery began exploding and set fire to my garage. Fortunately, I was home and was able to squelch the fire with fire extinquisher(s) until the fire department came. There’s a bunch of damage to my garage, equipment in my garage, and I also burned my foot (2nd degree) and face (1st degree) while putting out the fire.

This was the battery: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D7PWMNQH Fhybat - BA2800T “Fhybat 5000mAh 56 Volt BA2800T Battery Replacement for [REDACTED] 56V Batteries [REDACTED] Power Tools(Green)”

The charger (which I don’t believe is the issue), is the lower/standard tier [REDACTED] battery charger ([REDACTED]): [REDACTED] The amazon listing for the battery specifically names this as a compatible charger.
