The product, in the report: The product is a XP48PRO APEX Battery (CPAP DC Cord Included)
Product: EXP48PRO CPAP Battery USB-C Wall Charger & Cable Manufacturer: EXP PRO Power (exppropower.com) Purchase Date: June 6, 2025 Order #: [REDACTED] Where Purchased: Direct from manufacturer website
Incident Description: On the first wall charge of my EXP48PRO CPAP Battery, the supplied USB-C wall charger overheated to 170F within minutes (charging from 13% to 52%) and emitted a strong burning odor. This appeared to be a fire hazard, so I unplugged it immediately. The included USB-C cable is a small-gauge wire, which may have contributed to overheating.
When using an alternate PD charger and higher-quality cable, temperatures still rose to 138F during charging from 78% to 99%.
In addition, the green LED Power indicator on the battery will not turn off and cannot be reset, even after unplugging and attempting to recharge.
Risk: Potential fire hazard and electrical failure during normal charging use.
Actions Taken: Stopped using supplied charger; contacted manufacturer requesting replacement charger and cable and guidance to reset the battery.
