    Battery Report

I was using my ACER Laptop Computer (Aspire 5740/5340 series, model MS2286), utilizing the laptop internal battery. After a a couple of hours, i turned off the computer and plugged it into the charger. After about 3 minutes, we smelled and saw smoke coming from the laptop. I unplugged the laptop from the charger, but the smoke continued to get worse and i could see the battery case starting to melt. I got the battery out, by this time there were two holes about 1 X 1/2 inches, one on top, and one on the bottom of the battery. I could still see fire inside the battery and had to put out the fire in the sink with water. The battery was a lose. The computer battery had a charted hole in the battery compartment. I replaced the battery and reconnected the charger, no smoke and the computer came on. The computer will have to be checked out and repaired as necessary. This narrowed the problem to the Li-Ion battery. I purchased the CBD replacement battery for the ACER factory battery (AS07A41) on Amazon from the vendor Moon Gazer back on Sept 24, 2013. I was lucky that I was home or we could have suffered major damage to our home, also after a little research i found out that the battery could have exploded in my hands. I reported the incident to Amazon and Moon Gazer, which resulted in only a refund of my purchase price of the battery. I was trying to communicated that they were selling a dangerous product to their customers that could cause injuries and property damage.
