The product, in the report: 9V BJ’s brand battery. This is the store brand of the BJ’s retailer.
The morning of 1/27/15 we heard a loud popping sound similar to a gunshot inside our home. We searched the entire area and unable to find anything that potentially broke. On the evening of 1/28/15 our smoke detector starting beeping to alert for a low battery. Upon opening the smoke detector battery compartment we discovered the BJ’s brand 9V battery had exploded inside the smoke detector. The back end of the battery was fully exposed and pieces of the battery casing fell out of the smoke detector. It is lucky we were home when the low battery alert began as that could have been a risk being without a smoke detector due to the battery explosion
