The product, in the report: Battleborn 12 volt 270ah 8D size
Purchased 4 Battleborn 12 volt 270 ah batteries (BB8DH) for use in my motorhome. I haven’t had any issues to date, however I am reading numerous issues regarding these batteries. Overheating being the most reported issue. I want to report this to get it on record I spent $8,200.00 for these batteries and I am feeling uneasy to continue having them inside my coach.

The product, in the report: Battleborn 100 amp hour 12v Lithium battery
Purchased a 100 amp hour Battleborn battery for my RV. After a few years I smelled a strange smell coming from the battery cabinet. I contacted Battleborn support and they reassured me all was well. Further investigation revealed the battery had overheated to the point of rupturing the case seal.

The product, in the report: 4 x Battle Born LifePo4 12volt 100 amp hour batteries.
While charging these LifePo4 batteries according to manufacturers’ guidelines they began to emit smoke and the smell of burning plastic. I have 4 Battle Born 12Volt LifePo4 100 Amp Hour batteries on my boat. I am the owner and skipper of the boat using them as a “House Bank” for 12 volt marine usage. I was unfortunately inhaling the toxic vapors inside the sailboat cabin. I did not seek medical attention. I will no longer use them and will be removing them from the boat.

The product, in the report: Battleborn 12V lithium batteries
Multiple battle Born batteries, professionally installed in an RV, experienced intermittent disconnect, excessive heating of internal battery terminals, and eventual failure of battery to provide electricity. Battleborn claims they will look at it if I paid the shipping to ship a heavy 50 lb battery to their factory, but they have no gurantee or guidance on whether it is covered by warrenty, and may need to pay them to ship it back if they deem not warrenty.

The product, in the report: 24V LifePO4 battery
I have 15 24V Battle Born batteries in my off-grid solar system. I’ve had two battery failures where the batteries stopped functioning. One because the BMS did not function as advertised and just blew up and one where the Positive battery terminal became loose and the battery would not charge or discharge.

The product, in the report: 3 Battle born blue car battery size 100ah 12v lifepo4 batteries
Using three Battleborn 100ah 12v batteries on my RV. One battery went into meltdown and almost vented, the second and third started heating up. I was packing to go out of state in the morning and smelled it melting. Either would have went to bed or left really early in the am and trailer would have burnt down. Now battle born wants me to pay 250$ for return shipping that I can’t afford. The first set of two ingot five years ago just stopped working but they warranted those and paid full shipping. This time they are being difficult with return.

The product, in the report: Battleborn 12 volt 100 amp hour battery
Battleborn 100 amp hour 12 volt battery has a loose connection inside the battery that can overheat and possibly start a fire. I read that there were problems with these batteries so I checked all four of mine and one has a loose connection inside the battery on the positive terminal. When I push on the terminal in one direction I have proper voltage and then push in the other direction no voltage telling me the connection is loose inside the battery. The four batteries are wired in parallel powering a 12 volt 80 amp air conditioner thus each battery is providing only 20 amps thus should never be close to internal damage. No injuries occurred.

No one hurt Made Jun 12, 2026, sent to the company Jun 26, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 13, 2026
The product, in the report: It is a lithium iron phosphate battery that is designed for use in cabins, rvs and boats.
I have a [REDACTED] channel where I test batteries and solar equipment. I have found a major fire safety issue with multiple products from battleborn batteries. I am able to reproduce the issue in a brand new battery and I have my battery cycle machine to prove it. There are multiple spots on the product that can melt because the main terminal and supply connection has a piece of plastic that melts and creates a loose connection. Once this happens, the whole battery can melt and vent gases. I have multiple videos proving that this issue is reproducible and indeed a defect of the product.
Once I posted my videos, many other people came forward with the same issue. I continued testing and found even more issues. Their larger battery does not have a mechanical connection between the cell packs, and if used in a high vibration environment, such as an RV or boat (which they are advertised to be used in), hot spots will occur and can cause a cell to vent. I had this happen in my backyard during testing and I captured the moment on camera. I have that posted in a [REDACTED] video as well.
There is a class action lawsuit named “[REDACTED]” where the plastic sandwhich electrical connection is called into question. The plantiff is the president of the [REDACTED]. He created many of the UL standards we use for this equipment, and even he is saying there is a major issue.
For posting my videos, this company has filed a lawsuit against me for sharing the truth on this issue. I do not know what to do now because these batteries are in the field and people are still reporting melting batteries to this very day (this morning one was posted). Many people are also reporting that the plastic melts and the battery is dead without any abuse. One [REDACTED]even showed that 4 out of 6 of his batteries failed. Another member just posted that 11 out of 14 of his batteries are dead. When they are “dead” they have a loose connection and they are at risk for melting. This problem is found in the majority of peoples battery banks when they test them. There are many people who own these batteries and they are completely unaware of them having the issue. It is terrifying. When people reach out for a warranty claim, the company will blame them for improper installation. But it is a defect present in all batteries! They deny warranty claims left and right.
I just dont know what to do anymore. I showed the issue, I tested new batteries and proved that it is a defect present in all of them, and now they are trying to sue me. These batteries are extremely dangerous and everyone doesnt know what to do. One of my forum members said I should post this to you guys and hopefully start and investigation. I have more proof than you can imagine. I have the test results, multiple tests on camera and more. I am also creating a database with users who are experincing these issues.
Also realize that this issue happens if you follow the companies advice for installation! And most of the failures that come to me are from factory installed systems. I will open a battery and find 2 sometimes 3 other hot spots and melting in the case. It is really bad.
