No one hurt Made Jul 13, 2013, sent to the company Jul 22, 2013, published by CPSC Aug 5, 2013
The product, in the report: Battery replacement for Apple Mac book. Part number MC-MBOOK13W. White. Replaced in Aug 2010 sent from best buy through the product protection plan.
On july 5th at 5:20 something woke me up. When i turned to my right side i realized there was fire in my room. Never imagined that my apple mac book would be on fire. In that room slept my son and myself. At this time i usually go to the gym, fortunate enough i did not wake up, if not my 4 year old son would be dead. It was a horrible experience to wake up to your room being on fire. My father extinguished the fire with a bucket of water. As soon as he poured the water thick grey smoke began to cover all the room. I moved my son to another room and sealed the door with a towel. Once the smoke had partially disappeared we discovered that while charging my computer’s battery had gotten on fire. My bed box got burned, clothes and shoes, and the laminate flooring. I got in contact with apple and they let me know that this part number was on recall. I had my original apple battery replaced by best buy protection plan in 2010.

The product, in the report: ATG Replacement Battery
My [REDACTED] caught on fire.
[REDACTED] said the battery was the issue and it was a third party battery.
Best Buy replaced the battery with an ATG Battery several years ago.
Best Buy claims the battery is an approved replacement by [REDACTED].
The product was purchased at Best Buy and place under an additional two year warranty.
My concern is safety for others. This product could have killed someone.
I have photos and did my homework with both companies. They are pointing fingers at each other.
