The product, in the report: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDPZX598?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Hello On November 24th I bought a battery for a heated vest on Amazon ./ ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDPZX598?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I wore it a couple of times as it powered a heated vest. On December 4th 2024, I wore the heated vest and battery for work. Got home after work and set it on the table next to my bed to recharge. I went to my bedroom at approximately 9:30pm. I unplugged the battery from the charging cable and left it on the table next to my bed. At approximately 11pm. This battery spontaneously combusted. The sound of the battery exploding and fire woke me up. I jumped up and ran from the upstairs bedroom to the garage to get a fire extinguisher. I ran back upstairs to the flames and put out the fire. I started a fan blowing the smoke and fire extinguisher contents out the windows. I went to check on the carpet to make sure the fire was out. I discovered a pile of plastic burnt into the carpet. But it felt hot to the touch, At which point I ran back to the garage and got a hammer to remove the glob melted into the carpet. I discovered burning embers under the glob. I poured water onto this. Then cut out the carpet and carpet pad to confirm it was no longer burning.
If this battery had exploded at 11AM instead of 11PM my wife and I would have been at work and likely would have lost our house. It’s shocking to think a $60 item can destroy your home.
I have been very disappointed with Amazon for not pulling this product off the site. And disappointed that the Seller has not made contact with me about the request to pull the product. And the requested refund and payment for damages. Thanks [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
