The product, in the report: USB Type C Charger, ZeroLemon Removable 45W 4-Port USB C Charging Dock + 1 Removable USB Type C Travel Adapter for [REDACTED] and More-White
Purchased this Zerolemon charger on sale $6 on Amazon: USB Type C Charger, ZeroLemon Removable 45W 4-Port USB C Charging Dock + 1 Removable USB Type C Travel Adapter for [REDACTED]
Model # Y1010
There was a weird smell. My type C charging cable that I bought at the same time was hot. When I tried to disconnect it it had melted at the plugin. I pulled the plug from the outlet. It ruined my cable and also charred the connecting port on my phone.
Perhaps the most disturbing part is that Amazon scrubbed that item from their site. They show most items even if they are not available for purchase but this item is nowhere to be found except in my order history. While it’s not an admission of negligence, it’s certainly suspect. When I called customer service they seemed familiar with the product bought me new cables and a new phone and refunded the $6 I spent on the shady charger.
Had I been asleep this could have killed my family. I can only assume it was the wrong voltage or amperage.
We are all in serious danger if Amazon can curate information about dangerous products it sells. If there were reviews for that product I’m sure my story would be one among many. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this product caused serious injuries and/or death.
