The product, in the report: battery charger

Schumacher 6/2 Amp Dual-Rate Manual Charger Walmart #: 550866621 sold at walmart is a electrical hazard being sold. This item has no on/off switch and you have to use a power plug as switch this is very dangerous. Besides getting shocked , a death sentence can be acknowledged by this act if standing in water or something when plugging in. Since will be used mostly outside I have been shocked 2 x already by this by using plug as on/off switch.

Have to wiggle plug out to shut it off.YES PLUG IS TIGHT IN OUTLETS. which leads to pinky , ring finger touches the prong sometimes when unplugging. HAZARD ITEM SHOULD HAVE A ON/OFF SWITCH. Which i have already put an inline on/off switch “no more shocks”.

Approximately back in September I purchased a Motorcycle Battery Charge/Standby charger from Walmart in Neptune NJ. The charger was manufactured and distributed by Schumacher Electric Corporation. (http://www.batterychargers.com/) I used the charger approximately 2 times for standby charging to keep my motorcycle battery, which was only about a year and a half old, healthy. Then a week later I connected the battery connectors to the charger with the quick connects connected and then plugged the charger into the wall. Nothing happened. The charger unit did not turn on and never began charging. I checked the quick connects which connect the charger unit to the charger tips to verify they were seated correctly. DUE TO FAULTY/DANGEROUS construction the connectors DO NOT connect properly. I checked them and they as always don’t seat correctly. Then the charger unit made a small popping sound, then my battery exploded and I breathed in white presumably acidy smoke. The charger cords then baked to a crisp and almost caused a fire. My charger was ruined, my battery was ruined, and my side plastic of my motorcycle was ruined. I for two weeks contacted the company’s customer service department regarding my claim for their defective product as I only wanted the $200 to replace the damaged property of mine. After two weeks of no response I filed a BBB complaint and long story short the company told me to [REDACTed] myself. They said there charger unit itself had ZERO imperfections and that too bad but they were denying my claim. I sent them my charger for them to examine as well as photo proof showing how their connectors are faulty and caused an electrical short. Then sent me back the broken charger as well as the burnt up/charred wires. I then just in the last week attempted to use the charger again with the different type of connectors (snap on type, no screw on which i used first). And that set of wires also overheated/melted but this time didn’t cause my battery to explode. I’m trying to make people alert to the faulty and very dangerous product this company is selling. I’m also bringing this complaint to the Dept of Consumer Affairs so I can try to get my money for the damage their product cost me. Or I will proceed with BBB Arbitration and furthermore a Private Lawsuit against the company as their item caused problems, and I was forced to breathe in toxic fumes. I would like an investigation into the companies product as I’ve heard several similar stories regarding their products which are cheap china made crap causing overheating and fires. Thanks.
