Received a call from the high school staff regarding a fire in a classroom. Upon arrival, crews found a power bank plugged into a wall outlet.

According to the teacher who owned the unit, she had plugged it in to charge. The power bank was still plugged into the wall outlet upon our arrival. It appeared that the battery cells had exploded, and pieces of the battery were found on the ground after the explosion.

I asked the teacher if the power bank had been used prior to being plugged in that morning. She advised that she had used it the previous day.
