The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: AC adapter for an HP laptop
While working in my home office, the HP laptop AC adapter part number 608428-002 started on fire on the carpet near my foot. I immediately unplugged it and the fire stopped. I took it outside to cool it off and take pictures. Soot was floating everywhere. Luckily I was there or my house would have burned down. I contacted HP via there website portal. They emailed me a case number, and never replied after that. I’ve attempted to contact them via [REDACTED] pages, but only get a bot telling me to contact them on the same website portal I already used. I sent another email asking for an update to MyHPSupportHelp.AMSEnglish@hp.com and they never replied. They show no phone number to talk to a person

The product, in the report: Hewlett-Packard CS03XL Rechargable Battery for HP laptops, mainly in the EliteBook and ProBook line. These are internal batteries.
Our business has been replacing expanded batteries at our own cost in our HP EliteBook laptops that have become rather dangerous after a year (after their warranty expired). When we contact HP, usually they say these batteries are not covered in the 2018 Recall, but the batteries exhibit the same symptoms: expanding over time, causing damage to the computer case, and most importantly in the AMD laptops, causing the computer to become so hot it can be dangerous to touch (especially the bottom). In one laptop the bottom case had completely been separated, breaking the bottom plastics. All of these batteries are the same base model, CS03XL.
I’d also like to note that HP has relatively recently released BIOS updates to these laptops which try to address these expanding batteries, so they do acknowledge it can happen in many more models than what’s listed in the 2018 recall.
