The product, in the report: Gooloo Jump Starter Battery pack (GOOLOO Jump Starter Battery Pack - 1500A Peak Jump Box,Water-Resistant Car Battery Booster for Up to 8.0L Gas or 6.0L Diesel Engines,12V Car Jumper Starter Portable with QC 3.0,Type C Port)
I bought a Gooloo Jump Starter Battery pack (GOOLOO Jump Starter Battery Pack - 1500A Peak Jump Box,Water-Resistant Car Battery Booster for Up to 8.0L Gas or 6.0L Diesel Engines,12V Car Jumper Starter Portable with QC 3.0,Type C Port) from Amazon on 1st of October 2021. I used it once after receiving the product but when I wanted to use the second time on 19th January, I saw that there were only 3 bars in charge indicator. As per the instructions in the product manual, I plugged it in for charging in my living room. After about 15-20 minutes, I heard my smoke alarm and lot of smoke and fire in the living room. At that time I was working in other room and my wife was in the backyard. As the Battery pack and the adjacent items like leather chair, Rug, carpet, end table and other items were burning and the fire was reaching the roof. We quickly tried to put off the fire with water and other metal stuff. I had few minor burns on my hand.
It took us about 15 minutes to put off the fire. We contacted Amazon and described the damage and they eventually asked me to contact Sedgewick, their claims management services firm. I have sent all the required documents along with the pictures showing the damage to their representative, [REDACTED]. He then transferred the case with all details to [REDACTED] at Gooloo Customer Service at the end of February 2022. She needed more details, documents and images which I promptly sent.
As my damages are about $8000, she was not willing to consider that amount. After more than three months of communication, I finally agreed to her settlement of $2000. After we agreed to settle, she stopped communicating with me. I have sent her several reminders but no response from her. I contacted Gooloo’s US office and waiting for their response.
