No one hurt Made Dec 25, 2021, sent to the company Dec 28, 2021, published by CPSC Jan 12, 2022
The product, in the report: Standard four port battery charger. Black plastic in color. Approx 3 1/4”x 4 1/2” in size. On the front, shows an “Energizer” logo at the top, a battery shaped with four light up indicators under it. Under that is a statement “NiMH Battery Charger AA.AAA”. Under that is the four ports for batteries to be inserted with indicators which way + and - are. In between the 2nd and third charging port are words with a caution ! enveloped in a triangle with the statement “CHARGE ONLY BATTERIES LABELED AS RECHARGEABLE Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH)”
Battery Charger from Energizer Model: CH1HR3DE caught fire while recharging energizer branded batteries and using provided power adapter that came in the charging kit. No injuries occurred. Charger was flashing as it should for a bad battery in the fourth slot and continued to flash even after battery was pulled from its compartment. Charger was given adequate clearance (minimum of 6 inches) around it for air flow to alleviate any kind of heat build up. Pulled charger from use and discontinued until a remedy is given. Picture will be provided of melted component and charring.

Hurt, no treatment Made Sep 9, 2020, sent to the company Oct 14, 2020, published by CPSC Nov 10, 2020
The product, in the report: A battery charger for 4 AA/AAA NiMH batteries and two NiMH batteries inserted into the charger
I placed four NiMH partially discharged batteries in an Energizer battery charger (model CHVCM) and charged them. I removed the charger from the wall. I removed two batteries from the charger and then placed the charger with the remaining two batteries still in it on a wooden table. Several minutes later I heard a series of loud popping noises coming from the charger at regular intervals. There was an acrid smell. The charger was extremely hot to the touch. I called poison control and, at their recommendation, disposed of the charger and batteries by placing them in a paper bag and putting them in a trash can.
The batteries were about two years old, the charger was much older than that and had been stored in an uninsulated garage for several years.

The product, in the report: Energizer 2X Smart Charger 048-052-NA for Xbox One
Energizer 2X Smart Charger began to get very hot after being on for about an hour with two controllers in the stand. Stand is kept in a cool area on an end table, and is connected to a power strip that is shut off when not in use. I’ve had no prior issues with this charger, and luckily noticed a slight warm plastic odor before the issue got worse. Both the stand and the backs of the controllers were hot to the touch when I removed them from the stand. No damage or fire occurred, but it could have if I hadn’t noticed in time.

The product, in the report: Energizer® XBOX ONE 2X Smart Chargers
The Energizer® XBOX ONE 2X Smart Charger I purchased from Amazon had one of the battery packs produce intense heat while in the charger. The overheated battery pack deformed the plastic cover and produced the smell of hot plastic. I was lucky enough to notice the controller was no longer charging when I went to investigate. I shudder to think what may have happened if it had been left in the charger much longer because it was close to combustible drapes and a sofa.

Hurt, no treatment Made Mar 14, 2017, sent to the company Apr 6, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 20, 2017
The product, in the report: Energizer 2X Smart Charger 048-052-NA Energizer® XBOX ONE 2X Smart Chargers used to charge XBOX ONE video game controllers. The chargers are black plastic and measure about 3.5 inches long, 5 inches wide and 11 inches tall. “Energizer®” is printed on the charger’s label. Item number 048-052-NA is printed on the bottom of the chargers. The chargers hold up to two XBOX controllers.
Energizer 2X Smart Charger 048-052-NA:
Had product for approximately six months and product operated normally. One day we noticed one of the batteries was staying at approximately 15% charge even after several hours on the charger. I picked up the controller and immediately noticed a “hot electronics” smell. I opened the battery cover and the smell became intense. I burned my fingers attempting to remove the battery from the controller, which was difficult as the battery had begun bulging. I instituted thermal runaway procedures and immersed the battery in a bucket of water and baking soda until it cooled, then disposed of it normally.
Approximately two weeks later, the process repeated with the other battery. I again removed the battery from the controller and immersed it to cool it down, disposing the battery afterward.
There were no serious injuries from the incidents, though had the batteries ruptured or caught fire the damage could’ve been much worse.

Not said Made Mar 14, 2017, sent to the company Apr 6, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 20, 2017
The product, in the report: Energizer® XBOX ONE 2X Smart Chargers A set of rechargeable batteries and a charging station. The product allows you to charge the batteries with out removing the batteries from the controller.
I purchased and started using Energizer® XBOX ONE 2X Smart Chargers for my two xbox one controllers. I leave it plugged into the outlet all the time, as it is inconvenient to unplug and plug in every time I need it. This is due to the location, not the product. I take the controllers off the charge when they reach 100% every time. But, after about 4 or 5 months of using it, charging them once a week or less, the controllers started to have problems syncing with the xbox. I’m now at the point where one of the controllers will not sync at all with my xbox and the other I have to reset every time I want to use it. To be clear, no one was harmed. Just damaged my controllers.

The product, in the report: Xbox-one energizer dual charging station, black.
I purchased the xbox one energizer xbox-one controller charger, and today when I went to play I noticed the percentage light flashing, which it never had done before. I took the front charger off the dock and it felt warm, I then touched where the battery pack goes and burned my index finger. I unplugged it immediately, and removed the battery pack from the charger. About 3 or so hours later I got an email that some of these are being recalled for this same reason, and refunds were being issued.

The product, in the report: Recharge Value Charger (came with 4 AA rechargeable batteries)
This product was brand new. Product was taken out of original package and charging began according to their instructions (enclosed).
The battery charger was plugged into an outlet and the batteries that came with it were being charged. The batteries had never been used and this was the very first time that the consumer used the charger. During the charge cycle, the consumer noticed that a light on the unit was blinking red. This is an indicator that there is a problem. The consumer felt the batteries and they were extremely hot to the touch. The consumer was able to remove 3 of the batteries, but one of them was fused to the charger itself. The consumer left it in as was.
The consumer did not notice any smoke or burning odor in his home, when this occurred.
The following day, the consumer contacted the manufacturer about this incident on 9/4/2013.
He received a letter back from the manufacturer, which is dated 10/10/2013, with the resolution.
The consumer mailed the battery charger back to the manufacturer with original packaging at his expense for packaging not post and he received a check for $20.00 from them. The correspondence indicated that if the consumer cashed the check, it indemnifies the mfr. of any claims.
