The product, in the report: It is a 3-in-one charger. It charges [REDACTED] and had a color changing light on the bottom.
I purchased a Case Logic phone charger at Meijer in July. I had it plugged in downstairs as a communal “where’d my juice go?” charging station. When we went up north, I unplugged it and opted to bring it with us. When I came home and went to plug it back in, I realized that I forgot to remove the protective film on the [REDACTED] charging base. As I started to peel it off, my hand started getting really really hot. When I looked down, the charging cord was smoking and had melted through. I contacted CaseLogic with photos and explained the situation, mostly because I thought a deeper investigation or recall should be issued so that other people don’t leave this thing plugged in and start a fire in their home when they aren’t there. They referred me to Thule who manages their warranties. I have filled out the warranty claim form and am waiting for a response, but this whole process has already been going on for two weeks, and I really felt like people should know if they have one...to just keep an eye on it, and only leave it plugged in when it’s within your line of sight.
p.s. Thule said in their contact form that I will have to pay their standard shipping fee to return the charger to them before they can determine next steps. Does that seem backwards or what?
