The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made May 24, 2018, sent to the company Jun 4, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 18, 2018

The product, in the report: Black Web Flexible Metal Sync & Charge Cable with Micro USB Connector 5 Foot

On the day of the incident, I bought a new charger for my phone. During the night, I had my charger plugged into an extension cord, charging my phone on my bed as I alwas do. The charger was the only thing plugged into the extension cord. I happened to wake up, adjusted my blanket and pillows, laid back down and saw a glow on the wall. Sat up, and saw it was a flame on my comforter. I instinctively patted the flame out with my hand. Another flame appeared, this one much larger, and billows of smoke. I smothered the flame out with my blanket, then unplugged the extension cord from the wall. My house was filled with acrid smoke, I inhaled a few lung fulls and have slight coughing today (the next day). I also burned my fingers when I patted out the first flame, but not badly at all. Just slightly, a tiny blister. My comforter, pillows, and mattress pad all received damage. The metal cord of the charger had melted everything it was contact with. There was no damage to the wall outlet where the extension cord was plugged in.

The product, in the report: blackweb metal sync/charge cord

we recently purchased a blackweb metal sync/charger cable from walmart for my daughter. yesterday i was outside when i heard her screaming. her charger was plugged into an adapter than into a power strip that was on the floor, somehow she tripped over the cord causing it to be pulled under the adapter causing it to contact both metal post that were plugged into the power strip electrifying the entire metal charging cord which at this point it was resting on the top of her foot causing pain, redness, a 2 large blister burns to the top of her foot it than continued to arc and melt until i pulled the power strip cord out of the wall. i feel that making a charging cord out of metal is not a good idea and that this could happen to anyone in fact after the incident i read some reviews that talked about the cord sparking and heating up. this product needs to be looked into and/or recalled before it hurts someone else or burns a house down, i have pictures of her foot and the cord/adapter but am having difficulties attaching them if someone could contact me so i can email or text them i would apprentice it also i checked that she was seen by a medical professional because my wife is a nurse practitioner and i am a professional firefighter paramedic
