First aid Made Dec 19, 2021, sent to the company Dec 22, 2021, published by CPSC Jan 7, 2022
The product, in the report: It is an Ainope LCD portable power bank, white, approximately 2”x3”, model: ainope-P2604-10; made in China.
We had plugged in our Ainope portable charger overnight on the kitchen counter to recharge starting at around 11pm. At approximately 5:30am the following morning we heard several loud popping noises followed by a hissing noise, and found the charger had exploded - throwing charger pieces and soot for several feet in all directions. The charger itself was on fire on the counter top, other nearby food items had also caught fire at this point, and metal pieces of the battery had burned through the plastic top of a nearby coffee pot. The fire left char marks on the counter top and kitchen mat below it, however they did not catch fire. I burned my hand moving the burning charger to the sink to douse the flames, however there were no other injuries.
