The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Pittsburg 25’ x 1” tape measure
Using a new tape measure, my hand was cut as if by a knife when retracting the steel tape into its case. The speed and force of the retraction caused the tape to coil and slice across my hand. A photo of my cut thumb is available.
I returned the item to the store where I acquired it, Harbor Freight, and asked to exchange it for a safer model. All of the tape measures sold by Harbor Freight had tapes with knife edges. I left the tape measure with them without compensation.
A tool store next door had several tape measures, all of which had polymer-coated tapes that did not present a hazard. I have used one of them without incident.
