Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

my kobolt light 415 lumens led battery-operated rechargeable handheld work light product no. 3626912, purchased on 12//09/2023 at [REDACTED] model number CT9015. Caught fire on 6/05/2025. it burnt my wall and plug wires, my desk and my diabetic gluco kit and when thrying to put out fire, because fire would not go out it burnt a hole in the bathtub, it took a long time to put out the fire. we had to throw it out in grass, the light stayed on and everything around it melted.

The product, in the report: This is a general all-purpose, indoor/outdoor, two-bulb halogen worklamp with an included AC outlet. Kobalt 750-Watt Halogen Work Light, Model KBL750WHL, Lowe’s Product Number 326183.

Purchased a “Kobalt 750-Watt Halogen Work Light” from a local Lowe’s store. Lowe’s Item Number 326183, Kobalt Model Number KBL750WHL.

Bought this lamp expecting it would be perfect for the price -- is _not_ designed to dissipate heat output. The ceramic adhesive binding the quartz tube to the bulb base on the included bulbs begins to burn in about 20 minutes under 500/750W operation; the plastic along the top edge of the lamp begins to soften and burn as well. Emits visible, continuous upwards smoke trail and burned plastic smell. Additionally, a grey smoke residue builds on the inside glass window, exasperating the problem due to internal heat/light reflection.

No mention of this in the included manual, although others have reported similar problems online. No modifications made and I’ve followed all documentation to the letter.

I have not contacted Kobalt customer support -- problems of this nature are more serious and this lamp should simply be recalled.
