    To Whom it may concern,

Another test report, on Bayco Products at Auto Zone and Oreilly Auto 10,000 stores combined please only refer to the Bayco ETL products as UL has addressed and investigated there products while ETL has left all of these dangerous products on the stores shelves to sell to the US consumer

    [REDACTED]

    To who it may concern,

My name is [REDACTED] the name of my company is [REDACTED]. I do consulting work for a number of different Asia based manufacturers my telephone number is [REDACTED]. I have been marketing testing products for 25 years and sit on some STP consumer boards at UL.

Over the last 3 years there has been a mass exodus in China from listing products with UL over to ETL(Intertek). The reason for this is UL stepped up its after market monitoring of off spec products and went to a three strikes you lose your listings law. Meaning, if you products are found to be off spec in the market 3 times your listings are suspended and you cannot use the UL mark. Please note the three companies listed on my testing reports in China all changed from UL to ETL over the last 3 years. There products are in 10,000 Ace Hardware stores Wal-Mart and on line with Harbor Freight and in the 800 stores.

After many months of presenting my testing data and making complaints at ETL they refuse accept my complaints which should be against the law. They are not investing cheating on products at all and should be suspended as a safety testing agency. These products are below spec making their maximum amperage capacity and everything listed as per spec false and should all be recalled.

I will send you another few reports also as this is not only being done in extension cords but lighting products too.

PLEASE TAKE SOME ACTION AGAINST THIS TERRIBLE INJUSTICE TO THE AMERICAN COMSUMER

The product, in the report: Drop cord work light, full plastic including the light shield

    March 4, 2015

Citizen brought into the office this morning a drop cord work light that was constructed of all exterior plastic parts including the shield that protects the light bulb from accidental contact.

The back side of the of the solid portion of the shield it was very evident of excessive heat damage to the plastic as a result of the heat transfer from the light bulb. Part of the plastic was gone and remaining portions were brittle and brown. A couple of pieces of the brittle plastic broke off in my fingers. It does not appear that there was any flame associated with this damage to the light. The light bulb in the lamp was a incandescent [REDACTED] , [REDACTED], 75Watt, 120-130 volts.

Bayco Products Model 406 Vendor 76505-01 SKU: 769-361

Citizen said that he purchased this light last November from Home Depot and had placed it in one of his boats, “[REDACTED]” located at John Wayne Marina. He had placed it lying flat next to the motor up against the fiberglass hull. The light was there for prevention of condensation in the motor area. He went every few days to check on the boat and in early February he noticed that the light was not on. When he picked up the light to change the bulb he saw the damage to the light and also states there is damage to the fiberglass hull on the boat. He said that he had a second light in another boat that showed the same type of damage and was going to bring it in also.

I asked him if there were directions for use of the light when he purchased it and he said no. I asked him how long that the light was being used. He stated that it was on constantly 24/7 from the time he purchased it. The second light was used in a hanging mode and was on the 24/7 also. It showed brown spots where the light was concentrated. When pushed on it was brittle and broke through. There was not damage associated with this light. He provided a copy of an estimate for repair of the fiberglass damage from Johnson Fabrication of Port Townsend.

I did a search on line of the light and found it. There was not any directions for proper use other than two tags on the cord and back of the shield that states “to reduce the risk of electric shock and fire pull plug when relamping use only 75 watt or smaller bulb For 12 volt light use only 50 watt 12V or small bulb For indoor/light duty use only “. The other tag on the cord says “do not use in hazardous locations – For dry use only”
