The product, in the report: Product is a lightweight, home-quality, battery-powered portable jigsaw.
The product in question is:
BLACK+DECKER BDCJS20C 20V MAX JigSaw with Battery and Charger
I have now had two consecutive products fail as described below:
1. Product suddenly got slow. 2. I assumed that the battery was just dead and switched to a new battery. 3. The second battery threw out a shower of sparks. 4. Both batteries no longer take a charge.
The first one got light use over the course of just two weeks before it failed. The second lasted less than one hour.
This product is clearly dangerously defective by design and needs to be recalled. It lacks proper overcurrent protection to prevent destroying batteries, and obviously has some sort of flaw that can cause the mechanism to jam up internally, resulting in locked rotor current.
