First aid Made May 29, 2020, sent to the company Jun 18, 2020, published by CPSC Jul 2, 2020
The product, in the report: Ryobi Sander. Model number: S651D
I see the Ryobi Sander S651D has a recall issued for it. We have had this sander for 10-12 years and have used it maybe twice over that time. It has been stored in a dry and climate controlled garage and we went to use today, without knowing there was a recall, and bits of metal broke off and cut my hand and arm up. I am just alerting you so that you have update information about this product. As of now, I have yet been able to reach anyone at Ryobi despite 3 attempts.

Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 4, 2012, sent to the company Aug 20, 2012, published by CPSC Sep 4, 2012
The product, in the report: Ryobi Handheld 1/4 Sheet Sander Model # S651D Serial # AJ0638211365 Exterior blue plastic shell
I was using my Ryobi S651D 1/4 sheet sander this afternoon and the interior metal fan piece sheared off and broke through the front of the unit. Basically, it looks like the entire front of the sander exploded. Model #AJ0638211365. Thankfully I was wearing eye protection and I ended up with only a small scratch on my face and no one else was near me as I was working since pieces flew everywhere. It also helped that I have been using similar tools for a long time and did not panic when it happened. However, it is not unusual for other family members to be in the adjacent area when projects are being worked on.
It there is some place that I can either send photos or the sander so that you can evaluate it? I could not find all of the pieces, but saved the large ones that I could find.
I did find out that this was recalled on 5/5/2011 due to the fan breaking issue. Until today, I was unaware that there was a recall.
