The product, in the report: Porter Cable Hammer Drill, 7amp, gray & black

While using the side handle of the Porter Cable Hammer Drill, the drill bit locked and continued to spin the drill while I was still holding it. This resulted in a bone fracture of my right hand. My hand was in a cast, and I was off work for several months.

The product, in the report: Porter Cable 7 amp corded Hammer Drill

The Porter Cable corded, 7 amp hammerdrill caught on fire while in use. I used a 5/8 drill bit, which the unit was rated for. After 5 uses, of drilling a 7 inch depth for a 5/8 concrete anchor bolt, thats when the unit failed, smoked, then caught fire. It sparked and spewed hot metal as well. I emailed porter cable and informed them of the failure about a week ago; I received no response. I then commented on the Lowes website, I bought the unit at Lowes in [REDACTED], while reviewing the site I found that a multitude of other people encountered the same dangerous issue. Please review the site and you will find the same fire related comments. This product should not be sold, its a fire hazard. I have photos and a UPC number.

The product, in the report: Porter Cable 1/2” 7.0 amp dual speed hammer drill model# PC70THD

Porter cable !/2 “ hammer drill model PC70THD. Side handle does not adequately fasten to drill body. Installing this handle in accordance with the instruction manual and tightening it down securely still allows drill to unexpectedly and violently rotate under the condition of drill bit stalling in material being drilled, resulting in operating hand being forcibly rotated during this condition, causing wrist, elbow and shoulder injury.
