The product, in the report: Cordless drill

I was called to investigate a fire at a local machine shop. A Makita cordless drill (Model PC-GF15) in storage suffered significant thermal damage. The tool was not in use and had not been used recently. The battery is now fused to the housing. It appears that the trigger/switch overheated. It does not appear that the tool was exposed to an external heat source. I am unable to find any warnings or recalls associated with this tool. I have photos available and the tool is in my possession.
