No incident, no one hurt Made May 27, 2026, sent to the company Jun 3, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 26, 2026
The product, in the report: Hokinety 1200 lb paracord rope sold on Amazon.com under ASIN B0F61TGS8Z. Product title on Amazon at time of reporting: 1200 LBS UPGRADE TO 1200 LBS Designed with a durable 32 strand braided sheath and a high strand count inner core. The product is a black tactical style cord marketed for camping, survival, emergency, utility, hammock, fishing, tent, crafting, and load bearing applications. According to the Amazon listing and [REDACTED] report, the rope is approximately 4.4 mm in diameter, contains a 32 strand woven sheath with a 14 strand inner core, and is sold in a 100 foot spool configuration. The listing prominently advertises a minimum breaking strength of 1200 pounds and states that the product was rigorously tested. Independent laboratory testing conducted by [REDACTED], determined that the tested black rope measured approximately 727.9 lbs breaking strength, substantially below the advertised 1200 lb rating. The [REDACTED] testing also identified the black outer shell material as 100 percent polyester despite nylon related marketing representations associated with the product.
I am reporting a paracord rope product sold on Amazon.com under the Hokinety brand that is advertised as 1200 lb paracord for camping, survival, emergency, and load-bearing applications.
The product is marketed for uses including hammocks, camping, tactical/survival applications, and emergency situations where consumers may rely on the represented tensile strength for safety-related purposes.
Independent laboratory testing conducted by [REDACTED] determined that the product materially fails to meet its advertised 1,200-lb breaking-strength claim.
According to the [REDACTED] testing, the measured breaking strength was approximately 727.9 lbs, substantially below the advertised 1,200-lb rating.
The [REDACTED] report also identified polyester as the shell material, despite nylon-related marketing representations associated with the product.
Consumers who rely on the advertised tensile strength for load-bearing or emergency uses could face a foreseeable risk of failure during use, including potential injury from sudden cord breakage.
No injuries have presently been reported to me. However, the discrepancy between the advertised and tested breaking strength raises significant concern because the product continues to be marketed for safety-related and load-bearing applications.
This report is also submitted in the context of repeated independent testing across multiple Amazon marketplace sellers involving materially overstated tensile-strength claims on consumer paracord products marketed for similar uses.

No one hurt Made Mar 20, 2025, sent to the company Mar 26, 2025, published by CPSC Apr 9, 2025
The product, in the report: Hokinety “Paracord Type III 1000 lb” (the Product) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1N7T1J8 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1N3HS5V among others.
This law firm is submitting a formal complaint concerning the Amazon seller [REDACTED].
[REDACTED] actively engages in deceptive advertising, product misrepresentation, and the sale of dangerously defective merchandise, notably, the Hokinety “Paracord Type III 1000 lb”, on the Amazon platform.
More specifically, this matter involves the Hokinety “Paracord Type III 1000 lb” (the Product) falsely advertised under multiple listings: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1N7T1J8 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1N3HS5V
The advertised specifications of the Product are materially false and misleading, and Amazon’s continued sale of these listings poses a serious risk to consumer safety.
Consumers are relying on the attributes outlined in the Amazon listings for load-bearing applications, which is particularly dangerous.
The [REDACTED] testing we commissioned provides incontrovertible proof of misrepresentation, demonstrating violations of Amazon’s policies, federal consumer protection laws, and the FTC guidelines on deceptive advertising.
We are happy to provide the [REDACTED] testing results we have obtained to date upon request.
We are diligently pursuing additional testing and may supplement this submission.
Key Violations & Findings
1. False Advertising: Breaking Strength Claims (1,000 lbs. vs. 525 lbs.)
The Product is marketed as Paracord Type III 1,000 lb breaking strength on both Amazon listings and product packaging.
[REDACTED] independent lab testing confirms that the actual breaking strength is only 525 lbs., nearly 50% lower than advertised.
This egregious misrepresentation endangers consumers relying on the specifications for the product’s survival, safety, and load-bearing applications.
2. Material Misrepresentation: Polyester Material Rather than Nylon (as Advertised)
The Product is advertised as 100% Nylon in its Amazon listing and packaging.
[REDACTED] testing proves the Product is, in fact, 100% polyester, a cheaper, less durable alternative. Again, we are happy to provide [REDACTED] Testing results.
This intentional misrepresentation misleads consumers about the durability and suitability of the product for load-bearing and outdoor applications.
As a result, consumers will ignorantly spend more money on a lower-quality, less safe product.
3. Multiple Consumer Complaints & Safety Risks
Over 20+ documented consumer reviews report the Product failures, including a video demonstration of the cord snapping well below the claimed capacity.
We are happy to provide examples of these complaints, but they are readily available for you to review on the Amazon listings for the product.
Unfortunately, not all consumers will be privy to this information before making a purchase.
Customers have stated explicitly that the product is unsafe for real-world use.
The failure of this paracord in survival or emergency situations could result in serious injury or death.
Legal Implications
The continued sale of this Product violates federal consumer protection laws. Notably, the FTC Act, Section 5 (15 U.S.C. 45), prohibits unfair or deceptive trade practices in commerce.
Actions Already Initiated Against [REDACTED]
To date, formal complaints have been submitted to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). We are also in the process of submitting complaint to Amazon’s Regulatory Compliance & Legal Team. We will also be submitting a complaint to the Florida Attorney General’s Office under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
These filings illustrate the serious nature of the violations and underscore the urgency for CPSC to immediately investigate and work with Amazon remove these listings on Amazon.
We formally request that CPSC:
Immediately demand Amazon to remove all [REDACTED] listings associated with this Product.
Require [REDACTED] to provide independent US-based third-party verification of its product specifications, if it seeks to continue selling.
Conduct your own internal compliance review into [REDACTED] broader product catalog for potential additional false advertising violations.
Encourage Amazon to notify all customers who have purchased this product of the misrepresentation and associated risks.
[REDACTED] repeated false advertising and product misrepresentation expose customers to serious safety hazards.
Given the documented independent lab testing results and consumer complaints, there is a legal and ethical obligation to take immediate corrective action.
Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide an update on the response to these violations.
I look forward to your prompt response.
