No one hurt Made Jan 11, 2021, sent to the company Feb 2, 2021, published by CPSC Feb 17, 2021
The product, in the report: Porter Cable table saw. (Called Lowe’s and they told me it was on their recall list already)
I was using my Perter Cable table saw sold by Lowe’s (for only the second time although purchased in 2018). I began to first smell smoke, then see smoke billowing out from underneath the table. I immediately turned off the saw and unplugged it. The smoke got thicker and blacker and then flames began to shoot out from openings in the table housing. I grabbed the cord a dragged the unit out of my garage onto the driveway and sprayed it with a hose to extinguish the fire.

The product, in the report: Porter Cable Table Saw 10 In Model PCX362010 Made in 2017
On the 5th use, the table saw began smoking, while I was cutting 1/2 plywood, the saw was working fine up to the point of smoking, noticed flames licking up from under the top of the saw, unplugged it and threw it outside to be extinguished with the hose, saw was hardly used and never abused before the fire. Shirt got melted from fire but was uninjured and responded quickly enough to prevent damage to building. Porter Cable is offering a partial refund only, buyer beware.

No one hurt Made Aug 12, 2020, sent to the company Aug 20, 2020, published by CPSC Sep 3, 2020
The product, in the report: Porter Cable 10 inch portable table saw Model PCX362010 UPC 847962005939
I noticed a smoke/burning like smell coming from the table saw. Upon examination of the saw, I noticed the 4 screws on the front of the saw, that hold the blade/housing in place, were all missing. Because they were there when I assembled the product after purchase, I assumed they had vibrated out. I replaced the screws with new ones. This fix kept the blade straight but the smoke/burning smell was still there when using. Though a [REDACTED] search on the table saw, I noticed that a recall was issued in 2019 for this table saw due to the possibility of it catching fire. I started to fill out the online recall form but stopped because Porter Cable will only offer $95 reimbursement. They also wanted me to submit pictures of the cord cut in 3 places before I could complete the claim. The $95 is not enough to cover the cost of a new saw and Porter Cable should either fix my saw properly or provide enough compensation to buy a new on of equal value to when I purchased this saw.

The product, in the report: Porter Cable table saw pcx362010
Was using the Porter Cable pcx362010 table saw at a customers home when it started smoking real bad . The saw continued to smoke after it was cut off and unplugged. Porter Cable’s phone number they listed is not a working number. They are only offering 75.00 for refund of the saw and we paid over double that. They are also wanting you to destroy the saw and mail it to them. This is too much considering how much shipping cost for a product that size! The saw was less than a year old when it caught fire.

No one hurt Made Sep 3, 2019, sent to the company Sep 13, 2019, published by CPSC Sep 27, 2019
The product, in the report: 10 Inch Portable Table Saw - Porter Cable PCX362010
I received a recall notice about Porter Cable’s PCX362010 10” Portable Table Saw - for the possibility of the motor overheating and creating a fire hazard. Strangely enough, this saw did start on fire and I had to replace it about a year ago, so I discarded it. The recall stipulates that I tell them the model and serial number of the product, but since it was actually on fire and since I had to toss a bucket of water on it and hose it down, I no longer have an intact nameplate to reference. I do though have the original box in which it was packed, complete with the Lowe’s PO number under which it was shipped. So [REDACTED] and manufacture date 10/16, Lowe’s Item number [REDACTED].
Anyway - this item did start on fire - there’s a recall to refund those who have the serial number, but since mine was “lost in a fire” I have no recourse.
Since my family gave it to me as a gift, I don’t have the original receipts - but it was given as a Christmas present in 2016
Description: This recall involves Porter-Cable brand 10” table saws with model number PCX362010. The saws have a gray body with black accents and the Porter-Cable logo. The model number and serial number are printed on the table nameplate, located on the back of the saw body near the bottom.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled table saws and contact [REDACTED] for a refund.
Incidents/Injuries: [REDACTED] has received 61 reports of the table saw motors overheating and causing fires. One consumer reported smoke damage to their home. No injuries have been reported.
Sold At: Lowe’s Stores nationwide from June 2016 through September 2018 for between $100 and $180.

The product, in the report: Porter Cable 10-inch table saw PCX362010
Porter-cable table saw PCX362010 being used to rip down a 4x8 ft sheet of 3/4 inch plywood. During the rip, the board was not pulled straight through the saw kerf and caused the plywood to cam against the saw blade, placing strain on the motor. At the end of the cut, there was smoke observed coming out from under the saw housing. Upon turning the saw on it’s side, it spontaneously burst into a small flame. Flame was smothered with wet shop rags. Motor housing was melted and there was smoke damage to the underside of the saw .
