The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Mar 28, 2017, sent to the company Apr 5, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 19, 2017

The product, in the report: Husky utility razor knife. Retractable. Thumb slide to retract/extend blade and also acts as lock. Comes with leather carrying case which you can wear on your belt. Black case which closes with a snap. Has red lettering that says “Husky”. The knife is silver with a sliver of red on both long sides and on both sides of the handle. It also has a black clip to hook on pocket/pants and says “Husky” on it.

The item reporting is a utility razor knife that retracts from the end. It has a finger slide to extend/retract blade which also serves as a lock. It comes with a leather carrying case. The razor knife only fits into case one way (one end is a little more narrow). When sliding razor knife into into case the locking slide depresses easily and jams the blade into palm of hand. Luckily I only sustained a small cut. Could have been so much worse. I called customer service and they appeared to be working with me. They said I could return it and get credit towards another product. Then they sent me a survey to ask if I was satisfied. I said no, I was more concerned with preventing future injuries and wondered how their investigation was going. I have tried contacting them on three occasions since last conversation. I told them I would be contacting you. The manufacture is Husky which is sold at Home Depot. No model number on unit. I do have pictures.

The product, in the report: Auto-Loading Retractable Utility Knife

This complaint is about a Husky utility knife (Model 1000 032 776, UPC # 820909972037) sold by Home’s Depot. I purchased this tool around July 2014. The design of the knife allows the razor blade to rotate while applying downward cutting pressure, and then the back side of the blade slides out between the 2 halves of the housing, and cutting the operators fingers in the process. I tried going to the website listed on the package, but the website is no longer available.
