The product, in the report: Fiskars Titanium blade for rotary fabric cutter

Fiskars titanium blades bought at Hobby Lobby. I asked my husband to put one of the new blades on the tool. He cut himself taking a blade out. After it was ready, I started using it. I shaved off a section of my left hand pointer finger. It was about 1/2” long and 1/8” thick. There was no stitching this type of injury. It bled severely for over 4 hours before it was able to be wrapped. Around day three of injury, I started getting sharp jolts in my left arm about midway. My doctors office said I probably had hit nerves and they were trying to heal themselves. Now day 6, still very painful with deformity to finger.

There is no warnings on these packages and no safety shields in place while using the rotary cutters.

The product, in the report: Fiskars Adjustable Rotary Cutter model 1901801001

I purchased a Fiskars Adjustable Rotary cutter, model 190180-1001 earlier today. When I got the product home I was dismayed to find NO instructions on how to operate the adjustable handle or how to retract/open the blade on or inside the package. However I assumed I could figure it out since I have had other Fiskar rotary cutters. Apparently I received an item that had multiple problems because after I searched for info on the internet and contacted Fiskars customer service via chat, I realized that after I opened the blade, I could not retract it and the button that was supposed to operate the adjustable handle was stuck and did not operate. Reading reveiws on the Fiskars website, I could see I was not the only customer dismayed by the lack of instructions and having difficulty operating the cutter. In the process of trying to use the tool the first time, I cut my finger (not badly fortunately). Fiskars customer service offered a replacement or refund, but I told them I was more interested in making sure no one else was injured by this product. They asked me to mail it back to them so they could test it which I am in the process of doing.

The product, in the report: Fiskars All-Purpose Cutting Tool - Classic Loop - Contour Handle - Blade Safety Lock- Product information: 195210-1001 03-014813k 45MM Rotary Cutter @ 2012 Fiskars Brands, Inc Bar Code # 7848409521

I was trying to open the Fiskars Contour Rotary Cutter to cut fabric at my home. Upon attempting to open the packaging the Fiskars Contour Rotary Cutter blade came through the left side of the plastic packaging and at that point cut off the pad of my dominant right thumb. There is not a protective cover over the entire blade to ensure safety while opening this tool. The cutter remains inside the packaging as it was not fully removed during the initial incident. The incident happened so quickly that I felt the pain then looked down to see profuse amounts of blood. The pad of my thumb was half inside the packaging and half outside the packaging when my husband found it. He placed the skin back onto my thumb and we went to the hospital. After an 8 hour wait and excruciating pain, the ER doctor re-attached the pad with 8 stitches on half of the injury but was unable to place stitches on the other side of the pad due to the severity of the injury. I am deeply concerned that this accident could happen again to another innocent person trying to cut fabric at home. This product did not have a protective cover over the blade or a warning for how to open it safely.
