How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 1 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: very small hammer--almost looks like a toy, but the iron head is very heavy

The hammer I purchased at 99 CENT ONLY STORE, on Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, Ca., for my grandson, came apart after one use. It turns out that the very heavy iron head is attached to a flimsy steel tube with only a brittle plastic band that shattered on first use! It could have caused serious injury had anyone been standing where the head landed. I called the 99 Cent Only Stores customer service, but they hung up on me and I received recorded messages when I tried to call back. They have never returned my call, even though I left a detailed message on their answering machine, so I don’t think they intend to acknowledge the information.
