The product, in the report: 60 Gallon upright air compressor.
I bought a new Sanborn compressor on June 24th. I finally got around to hooking it up last night and I was going to start it up to run for the 30 minute break-in period as outlined in the instructions. As soon as I turned it on the compressor pulley blew apart. It sprayed pieces of pulley all over my garage and destroyed the plastic belt guard on the compressor. If someone had been standing next to the pulley, they would have been seriously injured. There weren’t any visible signs of damage on the outside of the compressor when I bought it. I can only assume that the pulley was damaged or cracked but couldn’t be seen due to the belt guard. I have contacted the manufacturer and reported the incident but due to the potential for bodily harm, I felt I should report it here. I will be returning the compressor to the Menards store in [REDACTED] where I purchased it for a refund.
