The product, in the report: Hammacher Schlemmer best automatic cordless tire inflator 2023
My wife bought me a Hammacher Schlemmer automatic cordless tire inflator 2023 three years ago for a Father’s Day present. I have photos. I have used it a dozen times over 3 years, and always kept it in my trunk. This is a safe, dry area just like the instructions say to do.
On 8/23/26 I used it on my outdoor driveway for 3 minutes to inflate my tires, and smoke started poring out the front side vents. The fire was coming from the display, which is now useless. The unit still smells of smoke. I pulled the Lithium Ion battery out of the base to stop the current flow into the unit. It continued to smoke for a few more minutes, before the fire went out on its own.
Fortunately, I did not get hurt. I was able to disconnect the batteries from the unit before the fire spread beyond the display.
